  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good article. Young people seem to be thirsting for doctrine rather than easy believerism.

Haven't read the article, but it has to strike fear into the hearts of the easy-believists that people aren't buying the "happy-clappy" junk anymore.

Doctrine?? Oh, the horror! Oh, the humanity! :D

Young people today are looking for consistency and something solid to hold on to. Calvinism provides all that, and deep assurance too.

As a young person, I've observed that most doctrines tend to take Scripture and fit it to itself rather than fitting itself to Scripture. The Reformed position, I think, is *least* like that with the most Scriptural evidence, however, I ascribe to no doctrine. I study the Bible, I learn from others who know more about it than I do, (I'm a new Christian, so there are plenty of people who know more about it out there) but my doctrine (it is my hope) fits itself to the Scripture rather than the other way around.

Just my little pre-breakfast speech. ;)

God bless,

Lissa

Well old friend, i see it as the Providence of God, in that He can use the sins of our generation to create an aversion in our children.

In this particular case, our kids see the 'fruits' and the inconsistency in the Hawiian shirt wearing-praise band-liturgical dance-happy-clappy-doctrine-lite-"can't we all just get along" alleged churches that we attended.

They're not impressed.

They want church, and not pretend church. Try as the Church growth movement pundants will to deny it, the kids aren't fooled. They have to live in the hypocracy of their families behaviour the other 166 1/2 hours of the week.

..."Out of the mouths of babes
and sucklings thou hast perfected praise"...

Matthew 21:16, KJV, qouting Psalm 8:2 Septuagent version
