Well the demo is finaly here! i am still downloading it, so i havent played it yet. This is the first true dx10 game released. I have found that people are playing it on xp dx9 and getting about dx10 quality by doing some code mods to the game, here look at this link.

Here is a link to the demo.

If the file is too big to dl in one shot, use the download manager, just search fileplanet to find it.

Also it is reccomended that you get the nev nvidia beta driver for xp. Ati users i think the catalist 7.7 driver is what is being used.

Wow, my system sure took a beating. running xp dx9 with settings on high and no antilasing and nvidias latest drivers i averaged 25fps.

8800gts 320,2gig ram,and a dual core opteron 165 (2 gig) cpu.1280x1024

My friend got about 20 fps with his set up. 9800 pro, 1gig ram, and a 2600 xp. but he was on low settings with out antilasing.1280x1024

So hopefuly when drivers are updated they may help. The high settings did look noticibly better then low. but far from ultra settings.

My friend and i have the same monitor, so that helps.

Edit: you can run a benchmark here..
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin64

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin32

So the bin 32 said 31.xx fps average.
Also the language in Crysis is a bit worse than even in Far Cry. To remedy this, you can turn off the dialogue volume to 0 to turn it off.

crysis is definatley an amzing looking game(the character models are without a doubt the best ive ever seen). gameplay is pretty similiar to farcry's also so that is decent. i enjoyed the demo and will prolly pick up the full game once i upgrade my system a bit.

Crysis will no doubt be a fairly demanding game. It will require a good system to perform well. However, CryEngine2 is very scalable so lower end machines will still stand a chance. Here are the official, and complete system requirements for Crysis.

Minimum Requirements

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better VRAM: 256MB of Graphics Memory Storage: 12GB Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible ODD: DVD-ROM OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Recommended Requirements

CPU: Core 2 Duo/Athlon X2 or better RAM: 1.5GB Video Card: NVIDIA 7800 Series, ATI Radeon 1800 Series or better VRAM: 512MB of Graphics Memory Storage: 12GB Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible ODD: DVD-ROM OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Wow, Vista must be a resource hog if it ups the requirements that much. I remember looking up requirements on Doom 3 when I was dual booting XP with SuSE Linux and it was like 1.5GHz processor with 384MB ram for XP and on Linux minimum was 1GHz processor with 256MB ram.
