I really don't know why I cry during Mass. I always feel Christ's presence whenever I go but would you think I should be smiling rather than crying? Tonight was even worse. I couldn't stop my tears watching our priest washing and kissing the elected parishioner's priest. Even the dismissal song "Jesus, remember me, when you go into your kingdom" made me cry.

...and it's sad to see a big, Irish guy with a shaved head who's built like a wrestler crying.

I mainly cry because I know it's going to be a long time until I can receive communion. Or I cry because I'm just overjoyed at God's presence in my life.

I don't cry when I'm helping out in the choir, though...I have too much to think about to cry. That and I'm one of only two true basses in the choir...if I started bawling, things would get ugly.

Hello,

I cried for the first time during Mass last week. When the Passion Play started and the crowd walked in proclaiming "Jesus is coming!" and waving the palm branches, I had to turn away to keep my girlfriend and family from seeing my tears. :) The tears are not bad, they are tears of joy!

God bless,

Oh man, I do this all the time. It's really kind of embarrassing. I don't ball actually, I just get a flood of tears:cry: . But sometimes I notice that others do the same....usually women:rolleyes: I do remember going to St.Patrick's Cathedral in midtown Manhattan and seeing this guy crying while someone was singing Ave Maria. I'm not sure what his reason was but by the time I got to him, someone else had. I'm certain that tomorrow at Good Friday's Veneration of the Cross Mass, I'll get soggy eye-balls when we sing "Were you there...when they crucified my Lord" It gets me everytime.

I always trying to fight back the tears. I know I shouldn't...and most of the time I cant. Feel being touched by God and whenever I attend mass, it's like a baby rushing to the arm of my parent.

But I feel embarassed...as if everyone is looking and judging your sincerity whenever you are in tears...as if you are faking or something....that's why i feel uneasy when I go to church.

I will admit, I try to do my wipes so that it's not conspicuous, that that's what's going on with me. :)

cry during mass to. Espically last night at Holy Thursday Mass and adoration afterwards. The sheer emense power of God's presence is just WHOA!...The only time I feel at peace is when I'm at church so...the tears come easily.

-I haven't cried for awhile at church, but last night I did. I'm glad. Confession has been hard for me these days, feel like I'm not really sorry for my sins and other things but starting last night, I started to have the sorrow I should have, and the willingness to change. Tears.

GinooKo, God give you Peace.

This is a special grace from God! Take heart and enjoy it! Remember it in your arid times, knowing how much He loves you! He doesn't bestow this gift without purpose or to everyone. It is a grace we should all pray for, as we cannot earn it ourselves.

Edit: For those who may not have experienced this or who may have experienced it and no longer do, take heart. It is a grace, and as such, it is a gift which God gives for His own purpose(s) and for His glory alone. It doesn't mean that God loves you less or that you are not doing something right if you never experience it or no longer experience it. For example, How many here have experienced the Stigmata? It is likely that nobody has. Both are graces which can only be given by God and serve to glorify Him alone.

God Bless,
P12

hi, :)

Bless you sister.

Many of those who are in God's grace cry, and not just once in a while, but much of the time, especially during silent prayer alone. If only more people could be graced with such passion, but we also have to take heed not to rely too much on our emotions. As such, one who cries often is not neccessarily spiritually stronger than one who doesn't.

Aside from tears of joy, crying in spiritual pain and suffering is also common among the deeply devout, for it is only those who are strong enough who can bear the suffering for the sake of others. God has great plans for these people, and sometimes must remove His graces to let them on their own (essentially to know what it is to feel the absense of God) in order to build them up and grow to rely and embrace God more wholly.

May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

My ex-fiance was (is) an OSAS Evangelical.
He came to Mass three times and cried every time.

Given more time, I think he might have broken from his parent's grip and returned to true faith. Sadly I failed in this mission but he is still in my prayers daily.

Tears are an expression of humility, and awe at God's grace. Don't ever hide it :)

Now where were you earlier when I needed you? :)

For the most part, I don't cry, even when in great physical pain. One of the ways my family knows that this disease gets to me is that I do cry when the pain gets too great, but otherwise it is something they never see. Before today, I had only cried twice over an emotional event over the last ten years. Today I found myself having to fight to keep from crying not once but twice. The first time was while in the chapel waiting for a priest for confession. The second was during the service today as the Passion was just awesome to behold.

Thank you Preacher12 for your kind words because I really never thought about that before. I thought maybe I am just an overly sensitive person. I just love Jesus and I wanted to soak every prayer I say and every word the priest say.

We have been singing "Were you there when they crucified my Lord, OH! sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble" during Lent season. I never trembled before but tonight during the Veneration of the Cross, I had an incredible power of his presence and my hands started shaking as I kiss the "relic" a piece of wood Jesus was cruficied on.

He humbled himself becoming obedient unto death, even to death on a Cross. Therefore God also has exalted him and has bestowed upon him the name that is above every name, so that at the Name of Jesus, every knee should bend of those in heaven, on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father.

We adore your Cross, O Lord, and we praise and glorify your holy resurrection

Thank you for "Don't ever hide it"
Tears at Mass started for me sometime ago. at first I tried to wipe as inconspicuously as possible. but one time while I was ministering of The Cup,
I became aware of His Presense as He reminded me "I have ERNESTLY DESIRED to celebrate this Passover WITH YOU....I will not drink this fruit of the vine from now until the day when I drink it new WITH YOU in my Father's reign." ...so there I am , not being able to wipe the tears because my hands were both busy, so I just let it be. my shirt got soaked, I tried to act normal
in that awesome presense right there among us as we processed THROUGH His Flesh and Blood, I don't think any one saw my tears. only God (& I) so I don't wipe anymore, I just concluded This is Jesus' manifestation of RIVERS OF LIVING WATER.

Aleluia, Aleluia, Aleluia, and then again, ALELUIA!
Thes is such an awesome thread.
Do you wonder what God is WEAVING?

Your brother,Carlos
