  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

...We are crucified with Christ when we denial self for Christ sake and this truth is shown through many scriptures. I will review one, 1 Corinthians 1:23 shows we preach Christ crucified, the Greek definition of crucified is to impale on the cross; figuratively, to extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness:--crucify. By definition figurative language is new insight into the object or subject of a work and goes beyond the actual meaning of a word. This new insight is what God wants us to have which is beyond the insight of being impaled on the cross. To extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness is to deny self and when we deny self He can live in us and we are following in His footsteps same as when He denied self unto death on the cross.

Example usage of figuratively:
You are using figurative language any time you compare two things. When writing goes beyond the actual meanings of words, then the reader gains new insights into the objects or subjects in the work….
