How do you not get offended on these forums? I have asked non-controversial questions that was not meant to be offensive or generate debates, it was just me trying to understand other people, and yet I got criticized for my questions. They were innocent. I wasn't advocating sin and I didn't criticize anyone myself. Even my old username got criticize. My user name was Appointed2015. I never thought I was God's appointed anything. In fact, I question my own salvation. But somebody acted as though I thought I was God's gift just because of my username. It was just a username.

I don't get it. I am not here to stir up any muck. I hate fights and debates; but people have tried to go at it with me. Am I being overly sensitive?

I mean how do you not get offended by critical people on these forums?

It is easy to get offended. There are people here who have diametrically opposed worldviews, so it's natural that virtually anything one person says will be misconstrued by someone who sees the world in an opposite way. It used to bother me a lot, too, when I ask innocent questions or pose non-confrontational statements only to have someone attack in some way. I eventually came to realize that nobody here actually knows me. I'm just a name and an avatar that tries to make contributions here and there. Since nobody knows me, and since many have an opposite world view from me, I *consider the source* of the attack. When you consider that the person causing you to feel offended does not not you, does not know your heart, does not know your motives, etc., it's much easier to let the offense roll off your back and not take it personally.

It happens to all of us and I've seen it in all of the forums. I think its the nature of the internet and the appeal of being anonymous and playing the devils advocate while appearing 'godly'. Just respond to those who post in a reasonable and honest way. By replying to abrasive posters you only encourage them.

I think that it's also because people tend to not read an entire post, but scan their reading.

I spend time explaining what I really did say a lot. Sometimes I use bold or UPPERCASE on certain words, like 'not' or 'sometimes'. Like if you say I do not agree, many just read 'I' 'agree', so I write 'I do NOT agree' frustrating or think 'sometimes', so I write 'I feel that SOMETIMES'. Then they seem to get it.

The bare truth is that there is very little love here, particularly between denominations. Just gotta grow thicker skin.
Some groups see themselves as more holy than others. What they apparently do not undstanding is that Spiritual arogance is an oxymoron.

I just want to make it clear that I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. I mean how will I ever learn without learning the other side of things. I am here to learn. So if I am in the wrong, I have no problem people telling me that I am mistaken.

No we get it bud. There is a difference between disagreeing and them just being disagreeable.

I didn't look through all your conversations but your last 5-10 threads didn't have much criticism. It sounds as though you might be dealing with some challenges in life. Those challenges can make you stronger as a person. Forums like this are not for the faint hearted. People should be careful to understand there strong stances happen. It's quite easy to take strong disagreements as criticism. There is improper criticism in here. It's sin. And every person is guilty of sins. Judgements, which is required to even be a part of a forum like this, causes heated discussions. There are some forum where people are less confrontational. If you are game, there are some where you speak, your guaranteed someone will criticize. It's the life of Christian forum.

But to be honest, this place is soft compared to other forums.

So are you saying those who criticize don't go to heaven?

No , I was saying maybe that expecting anyone around here to have anything worth reading or even worth repeating is probably asking way to much , since Jesus himself say not many find the right gate. most will be left out .

Ah. Ok.

Forgive me. I have issues with analogies from Scripture out of context. Im not a "life application" person. I know lots of people do that. My mind can't get passed context first.

That's a little harsh, don't you think? Maybe I'm too literal, but when you say "anyone" I take it to mean "anyone". Personally, I've met a few folks in here that I pay attention to -- even if I don't agree with them on everything.
