• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Dee, consider the tastes of the people who have responded here. Some of their interests &/or tastes might be different from yours. It's always just something to keep in mind when making decisions, as you well know.

/Carrie gets off her "constructive not destructive" high horse.

Aww, I don't doubt that. I just didn't want Dee to think that Crisis Magazine is unorthodox. I'm going through a little "I'm tired of people's politics within Catholicism" phase, and so I'm making an extra effort to support those things that are good, but that just might not be to a particular person's taste.

There are those things that aren't wrong, but that I maybe don't like (this isn't one of them, Dee), and then there are things that are simply unorthodox. The distinction must be made.

Carrie, very true. I did subscribe to Crisis so I could be informed on the political edge of politics however I found myself uninformed on current issues. It isn't a terrible magazine or anything, but I said above, it lacks substance.

oddly enough, the latest edition of Crisis was great.
Especially that article by HW Crocker "A new look at NFP"
I laughed so hard that I cried while reading it with my wife. Did anyone else read that?
If HW Crocker (the author of Triumph, a 2000 year history of the Catholic Church) continues to write for Crisis, i'll keep my subscription.

That was a hilarious article.

I get Crisis. I do find that it can be somewhat idealogically biased, politically speaking, but in general I enjoy it.
