For someone studying evolution for many years, this is a very 'curious' statement. I mean, if you had really studied evolution you should be aware that the reason there was so much resistance against evolution was that it took down man from the top seat, placing it right in the middle of all other living creatures. If you had really studied evolution, you should be aware that the only thing evolution 'strives' to do is explain the current biodiversity of life on earth.

You apparantly are not aware of these things, which makes it not worth to read the rest of your post, as you already went wrong on such extremely basic issues.

Are you assuming that Christians who are evolutionists are not saving souls?

The whole point of this thread is that it would be a lot easier to win people to Christ --and to keep them in the church--if creationism did not present a huge stumbling block to faith. Creationists create at least as many atheists as they do Christians, including many raised in the bosom of creationist churches. TEs don't like having to witness in the midst of the destructiveness of creationism which undercuts evangelistic efforts.

So, if you are genuinely interested in saving souls, you should take a good look at how many people are turned into atheists by creationism and think deeply about continuing to support a belief that has this effect.

I am shocked by the number of creationists I meet these days that no longer know the meaning of "image of God" or the second commandment.

You remember the second commandment? The one that says not to make an image of anything in heaven, or on earth or in the water under the earth to worship it?

Why was that an important commandment?

One thing it tells us is that nothing we can see in the universe looks like God.

How could it? Everything we see is physical. God is spiritual.

Yes, the bible often speaks of God's hand or arm or face or eye, and also soemtimes of his wings. But it is clear that these are all anthropomorphic metaphors.

GOD DOES NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BODY!

So how can any human body be made in the image of the body that God does not have?

Evolution only covers the physical inheritable characteristics of humans.

It has nothing to do with the image of God in human nature.
