Among Christians I am wondering if certain denominations are more likely to subscribe to one of these beliefs over the other. I have noticed that many Baptists tend to be creationists. I would guess most Catholics accept evolution because the Pope does (unless that has changed).

Which denominations generally fall on which side of this issue?

You might want to give a small sample of denominations you are interested in. There are far too many to adequately answer your question, as is. Although, most people will only be able to answer for the few denominations which they are familiar with, anyway, I suppose.

Just look at it this way, Strathos ... all Christians are creationists; regardless if they are theistic evolutionists or creationists, per se.

Quite a few Christians will claim that to be a "real" Christian you have to believe in a literal 7 day creation and also Noah's flood.

I agree that many Christians do no believe the Adam and Eve myth and quite a few of those can see that Noah's Ark is a fairy tale too. But it is nice to see that AVET admits that people can be Christians and believe the scientific answers too.

A Christian can even believe in chemical abiogenesis. Practically everyone believes in some form of abiogenesis, even AVET does. Though I did see him improperly apply etymology to the word in the past. Let's see if he can get it right a second time around

Well yes, theistic evolution implies God definitely did some creating at some point, but that's not what I was asking.
I'm not sure, but I think some TEs believe that God created the "primordial atom" that eventually expanded into what is now our universe.

AVET, how many times do you have to be reminded that evolution, and science in general is not anti-Christian.
Is it pro-Christian?

Matthew 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Dear God, it's Christmas Day, season of goodwill to all men etc. Haven't you got some Christmas cake to eat or something rather than drawing fresh battle lines?

Um ... no.

From Wikipedia:

This means: theistic evolution = evolutionary creation.

Show me the Wikipedan equivalence; e.g., creationism = microevolution.

Don't tell me about Wikipedia. Wikipedia says you are an ape. Wikipedia says you are a Homo sapiens. We both know you don't agree with that. Do you accept microevolution, or not?

That's just what my wife said, earlier! Almost word-for-word!

Yeesh, so many posts on December 25th. Go have a mince pie or something.

Pew Forum is probably the best place for this kind of research. Pew Forum: Religious Groups' Opinions of Evolution shows the different opinions from various denominations of Christianity and other non-Christian religions:

As you can see support for evolution is weakest among Jehovah's Witnesses and strongest among Catholics - though even among them support isn't all that high.

There a few things about these trends worth noting. First is that most of the data comes from the USA, which has stronger creationist affiliations than other countries. Second is that Hindus and Buddhists both show more support for evolution than those with no religious identity (the "unaffiliated"). Third, this particular research dates from 2009 and so may be somewhat out of date by now.

Sorry it took so long to answer your question.
