• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am dissociative; DID. I stay home most of the time, because it is exhausting to go outside and pretend to be normal. I can do it, but I have to come home and sleep for hours afterwards.

Not sure what else to say, really. I have no therapy, no medication, no support from my GP at all. He lost interest somewhere along the line, and now I am too afraid to try again.

I go to church, sometimes. But mostly I stay home. When I am not too stressed I paint pictures. That is all.

The person who posts here is a shadow of who I used to be; strong, confident, sure of her faith. But that person is long gone.

I'm PTSD. I feel your pain. But if you aren't getting help from your GP, please find another one. There is help out there, sometimes it's hard to find, but it's worth it once you do.

Don't really know what else to say but I'm sending you good internet vibes.

I just want to say that I'm so sorry. I've wondered how people with major issues like that or sociopathy or npd (I know those aren't related) can be able to have faith in God amidst their struggles. Thanks for letting me know it's possible. :)

Yes it is really possible. As the 'host' your faith will anchor all of you in Jesus. Others will take a cue from that, although where religious figures (clergy, church people) or venues (church buildings) or even various practices (prayer, ceremonies) they can be very hard for some to cope with initially.

I take a weekly bible time with one person I talk with using Skype. Some listen, some want more, many have good questions that they ask.

And Jesus already encompasses them within His love for each 'part'.

I also have diagnosed CPTSD and DID. I am on medication, it has really helped me. Painting is really fun, I like to do artsy things too (my child alters specifically love it), I understand what you mean about the person you used to be, I feel that way too, a shadow of my old self. I'm on disability allowance for the next four years so I can stay at home with plenty of time to rest and recover. At the end of day God is with me in every moment supporting me through it all, and my lovely Christian family are too. Support is very important and I also have non-Christian therapy too which my doctor referred for me.

The reality for me is the more time I open in prayer the stronger I feel internally. The fact that you are less sure of your faith, less strong, less confident, may come down to not feeling able to pray. Do you some times feel unable to pray, if so is that caused by a doubt in your ability, or a doubt about God's care for you?

Also you said you paint, I love art, but was never much of a painter.

Thanks for your concern.

Prayer is not something people do. It is who they are.

Being uncertain of my faith is to do with how well or otherwise I can relate to church, and the people in it.

:)

I was just watching a video online, and one point that a guy made to a person who had left God due to the way the church treated them was, "if Jesus was walking here today, how do you think He would treat you, and would you follow him". Some time we, I included, are bad examples to others, so peoples opinion of God is changed by me, so they may not want to follow Jesus, due to my harsh spirit. Yet if they encountered Jesus they would long to follow. Just some thoughts, that faith is better connected to Jesus than people.

Thank you.

When I leave a church the Lord comes with me. Fortunate, that.

Meanwhile I don't have a harsh spirit; I have DID. Totally different thing.

Hi I was not suggesting you have a harsh spirit, I was saying, me, I, have a harsh spirit at times. I was in no way judging you.

This is a thread about CPTSD and DID.

Yes .... I am aware of that .... all I am trying to do is encourage people to spend time with Jesus, more time, to help overcome their DID. Jesus is a healer, and as we are in His presence he fills us with love, joy and peace. As the bible says "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be added to you".

I honestly believe that any mental scar can be healed in Jesus presence. Often hurts keep us from Jesus, and fears. We should not so much trust in our own strength and power but God's.
