I was able to see the entire series on cable a while back, and I really enjoyed it. I had never paid much attention to anime before that, but I was very impressed with the series. The soundtrack has got to be some of the best music ever used for any TV series/movie. In fact, the music from Cowboy Bebop is largely responsible for my interest in jazz, which I also never paid much attention to before seeing the series.

A show where I can sit through it for the whole 30 mins., then sit back and wonder what I just watched...

Yep, only recently have I started watching a bit of anime, and cowboy bebop is the only one I really like, (not seen many others...) but I am sure there are other good ones. Favorite character: Shin (I know he is only in a couple sessions but hey, he's the best :) )

Here is his bio:

The younger brother of Lin, Shin is a good guy in reality. He plays a bad guy in the Syndicate and doesn't leave so that they won't come after him, but at the same time he brings inside information to Spike so that they can destroy the Syndicate once and for all. He takes out many members of the Syndicate to keep Spike alive, like his brother did for Vicious on Callisto. [spoiler removed]

BEBOP is okay. I mean it would be nice if they had anime with happy endings. Still, I feel like the writers try so much to make things similar to real life by showing that more often than not, things don't totally work out. I mean you have plot twists that have absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the story. At other times, things you see are integral to other things that follow. I suppose it is part of the writing that makes more unpredictable, though generally you can imagine that all the ships' members will get back to the ship in one piece, and usually some villian will be caught or some mystery either solved or shed light upon (even if it only brings up more questions).

Hacksign was another series that I believe you could appreciate the musical score of, though most of it seems like a blend between contemporary rock and enya type stuff. Interesting plot...though slow.

"Now and then, Here and there" was okay, though I expect a little too real in some ways, as it shows many of the tragedies of violence, though it focuses it's plot on this do-gooder boy throughout. By the end of the movie you either want to kill him for his hard-headedness or cheer him on for his optimism in the face of danger.

I also liked Tenchi quite a bit, though I think there are about 5 or so different Tenchi series that have been published (maybe more) and I've only seen one or two. In that sense, perhaps it's a little more like the Gundam movie series, except of course that art imitates life, but Gundam mostly imitates Gundam.

Actually if you follow along with the storyline of Bebop closely (and as jet advises at the end the session before The Real Street Blues parts 1 and 1... Hard Luck Woman I believe, pay attention to the episode [The Real Folk Blues]) it doesn't end tragically... At least not how I interpreted it... I may start a spoiler thread to discuss it... In fact. *goes to post* heheh

cowboy bebop rocks my face off and has to be my favorite anime series by far. The only thing i was frustrated by was that i came in late so i didn't get everything. But i still loved it and thought it was a brilliant story line and amazing animation with astonishing visuals. It really is in a league of it's own.

Seen all of bebop AND the movie, fansubbed, luckily. I managed to sneak a peak before it got licensed in America :). I was a huge fan way back when, but it's died down a bit, I am interested in watching it again though.

And, to end with a bit of controversy, I think the ending is a happy one. Anyone think not? *no spoilers unless noted please*

i watched loads of cowboy bebop, and I loved it, but I couldnt watch every one cos it was on at like 2 in the mornin every night (I like my sleep!)
Plus, we had to get rid of sky a few times while the series' were on...so I watched them out of order, and got really confused, and have never watched the end ones, but still, it was amazing, so its got to be brilliant!!
I am actually searching for a good stockist to buy all the episodes from......wait........just got one...well thats me sorted!
