  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump returning from his trip abroad types a strange tweet with a nonsensical word, (Who can figure out the true meaning of "covfefe" ??? Enjoy! 6:09 AM - 31 May 2017). Sean Spicer responded to the media saying “I think the President and a small group of people know exactly what he meant” (Sean Spicer says 'covfefe' wasn't a typo: Trump knew 'exactly what he meant')

In a post last night, I saw a random one word post that simply said, 'Covfefe', I was clueless so I started looking it up. At first it was a curiosity, just one of those memes. The reading was surreal, perhaps a Google translation of an Arabic 'cov fefe', which means, 'I will stand up'. It makes sense since he was returning from a trip that included the Middle East. The May 31, 2017 tweet would read like this if that's the meaning, “Despite the constant negative press, I will stand up.” Then I stumbled across this:

He was referring to Fefe, the scorpion brother of Pepe the frog

The past two years have been really weird. During the US presidential campaign Pepe the frog, an illustrated amphibian initially dreamed up by artist Matt Furie, was deemed a hate symbol due to its popularity with the alt-right and white supremacists. While Pepe’s use was previously mostly limited to 4chan, its association with the Trump campaign led to it spilling out across social media, with it now being widely used on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and other sites. (The Covfefe Conspiracy Theory: What the Internet Thinks Trump’s Typo Means)
Pepe was a long time meme favorite for years, used a ton of different ways. Apparently the alt-right was looking for a meme and somehow this one caught on. I think the most likely explanation is Trump picked up a word on his trip and kind of mispronounced it, sure sounds like Trump. While I'm browsing a random statement of Trump from the Boy Scout Jamboree caught my attention. 'In fact, today, I said we ought to change it from the word "swamp" to the word "cesspool" (2017 Boy Scout Jamboree).

I've gotten used to his hyperbole but that kind of stuck with me and I found this strange story about Donald Trump jr.

Donald Trump Jr, the eldest son of the Republican presidential frontrunner and one of his political surrogates, has granted a 20-minute radio interview to a prominent white supremacist who broadcasts what has been dubbed as “the primary radio nexus of hate in America”. (Eldest son of Republican presidential candidate will be guest of honor on The Political Cesspool, called ‘primary radio nexus of hate in America’, The Guardian. March 2016)

I'm just wondering, am I onto a conspiracy theory here or just making too much of a harmless meme. I didn't want to bring it up in the Political forums although I'm sure they would have had some fun with it. Seems more appropriate here because it just feels like a conspiracy theory.

Your thoughts...

Grace and peace,
Mark

This conspiracy is certainly a red herring. I am not saying that it is without merit at all. I am saying that the purpose of "covfefe" is to divert energy and attention to it - from other conspiracies (a conspiracy is an actual crime under the RICO act of 1970. However, because of the Patriot Act, NDAA, turning the TSA into a government entity under Homeland Security and Affordable Healthcare Act, one can legally commit any of the RICO acts with justification - as well as many other unconstitutional acts of yesteryear. Most people ignorant use "conspiracy" to mean something silly - which makes it a gross misnomer. The addition of "theory" doesn't make it any less inappropriate contextually, and syntactically.)

If the MSM covers something - it either means they are trying to destroy credibility before it becomes a cultural phenomenon (which implies merit,) or they are purposefully reporting on refuse in order to distract "consumers." News is for profit: they don't have producers in the ears of reporters so that the reporter can report on whatever s/he wants. Company shareholders, executives, advertising and a choir of entities make up the rules for "news." This isn't conspiracy; it is reality. Anything that can demerit a business interest, for example, is rejected. But, if CNN, for example, can gain 1.5% in ratings because they talk about the silliness of Pizzagate, or covfefe for a month, then they will do it. There is no shame when it comes to capitalism: just capital.

I am going with the idea that covfefe is a distraction - misinformation. But I wont doubt that it has clandestine meaning just because it has been deemed as silly by people - as that is often the strategy to program the public to be incredulous about certain meritorious topics gaining publicity.

I'm not sure I disagree, it just puzzled me that the term would have so much longevity and popularity. I think Trump is playing a little game and sending us out chasing these red herring meanings, he is wrong but he is good at it, I fell for one so be it. I would let it go at that except there is something more ominous when it's tied to White Supremacy.

Just do me a favor, watch the first 23 seconds of this and if you think Covfefe has nothing to do with Pepe I'm cool with that:
