CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

it means whatever you want it to mean just like the term dating means whatever you want it to... - both terms are interchangeable as well.

As far as I can see, the main difference between courting and dating (and many people feel they are two different things) is the intent. Dating in our culture has become something that is "just for fun," which ends up hurting people more often than not. Courting is having a relationship with the intent to get married, or at least decide if you could marry that person or not. Many Christians don't like the idea of "dating" because anymore it implies sexual activity and a lack of God-focus. Courting has become an alternative to that for some people.
Personally, I think the two are synonymous if you do dating right (not the way it is seen in non-Christian relationships), but many people would disagree, so be careful if you try to use the words interchangeably

Most people specify courting as "dating with the intent to marry" basically. Dating now-a-days has become a term that most people use when going out with a person once and never see them again. Therefore, in Christian circles, people tend to use the word courting so that people know they are in a serious relationship and not just dating around.

It's quite an old fashiond term for dating, and it is the main term currently used here in Wales UK - but when I used to live in England I very rarely heard it used at all.

Courting and dating are 2 different things in some ways they are the same but some ways not... Courting is being in a Relationship seeking the Lords will and heading toward marriage.. because whats the point of being in a relationship if your not intrested in marriage your just playing with that person heart.
