Jeez...... where do i start, I have been listening to a lot of Texas red/dirt country recently, I have been really digging into that sub-genre of country music, kinda have gotten tired of the other stuff like Tim McGraw, ZBB, Luke Bryan, these days i find myself enjoying Aaron Watson, Casey Donahew, Jon Wolfe, Randy Rogers, Pat Green, Cody Jinks, Cody Johnson, George Strait, Garth Brooks, i enjoy the stuff with a bit more fiddle, a bit more sliding smooth steel, a bit more twang and if you want some banjo picking, i really enjoy the Steep Canyon Rangers, Ron Block, The SteelDrivers.

Here's some stuff to start ya of

Not a big country fan, but I do like the bluegrass infused country with artists like Rickey Skaggs. I also liked some of the progressive country of the late 1970s like the OUTLAWS album with Waylon Jennings, Willy Nelson, Thompal Glasser and Jessy Colter.

And I always liked the Man in Black - Johnny Cash.

Another vote for Bluegrass, especially with acoustic arrangements. Emmylou does a nice cover of the classic Carter Family tune with background vocals by Iris Dement, and killer guitar picking by Randy Scruggs.

This was a song from the Civil War period that was used in the PBS series. Excellent performance by Kathy Mattea with all acoustic accompaniment. Great dobro and mandolin.
