Countdown to Cease Fire Clock on CNN

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this supposed to be a joke? For those who haven't seen it, CNN is displaying a "Countdown to Cease Fire" clock in the bottom right of the screen. Who really needs a clock for this anyways? It's like the countdown clocks stations use for the New Year. Are we supposed to be bracing for what happens after the clock expires?

Honestly I really like CNN, but this is just ridiculous.

Hmm I have two CNN channels and it isn't on either. Yeah that sounds really ridiculous. I think that is really bad because lately the news channels haven't been giving us the real news. Example: Reuters changing a picture of Beirut.

That IS wierd. Try actually watching, or at least listening to CNN off and on for a day or so. Pretty insane.

I'm really disapointed in the 24 hour news channels. I remember back when they actually gave us real news. You used to be able to watch CNN for 15 minutes or a half hour and get a pretty good rundown of the news. Not anymore.

I miss having really good internet. I used to listen to the NPR webcast while I was playing a computer game. That was a lot of fun, and I typically learned at lot more about what was going on than I did from watching the "New, Improved, Talking Heads Only" CNN.

And I'm sure that they will stop firing at exactly 00:00. They could probably care less. I find the whole "cease fire at this specific time" thing a joke anyway. It's like saying "sure, you can blow each other up between the hours of 9am-5pm, but you have to stop fighting at all other times."They should have stopped when the cease fire was decided, not give them more time to blow each other to bits.

Well, I don't really trust this "cease fire" solution of the U.N. at all. There is too much anger and rage in this regions to just lay down the weapons. Militant groups won't be interested in it at all.

But when I had the misfortune of watching some non-CNN news while waiting for my plane yesterday, I was shocked by the lack of news of any import. I stopped watching network news years (at least 10 years) ago because it was all fluff, but it's gotten even worse... they had a ten minute segment on detox diet myths, and about 30 seconds on the war, and those 30 seconds were sensationalized.

So while CNN is losing some of their credibility, in my mind, they're still a lot better than the network news shows. Still, I'm glad I get most of my news from reading.
