  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A few years back, there was a Coptic poster who acknowledged or agreed with all 7 of the first ecumenical councils. Why would such a person by Coptic instead of Eastern orthodox? Is there a theological difference between the two at that point?
I’m guessing that most of us in the laity don’t even understand what our differences are. On the other hand, we can’t just discard centuries of saints in each of our communions who said what those differences are. I tend to think we are both basically Orthodox but we should maintain the status quo and be wary of false, cheap & worldly ecumenism.

Did you try to PM this person to ask them? If they haven't been to the forums for a long time they might never respond but... you might get a response. Some people do get e-mail alerts on that, and even if not, they might at some point return and see the message. Worth a shot, if nothing else.
