I’ve been to confession literally hundreds of times. I’m no longer nervous or scared.
Take care
It gets easier each time.As a kid I was terrified of going to confession. As a young adult I was anxious but not terrified. Now I’m ok with it.
They’ve heard everything many times over.Private confession is offered in my Anglican church but it’s optional and I think most people don’t do it. Do you think priests ever get judgmental about hearing some confessions? I bet they’ve heard all sorts!
No. They operate in persona Christi. They are there to operate in reconciliation and forgiveness. My priest explained it to me that the Holy Spirit takes over during that time and after, the Holy Spirit takes the load of the priest after hearing confessions. He told me he rarely remembers anything heard in that sacrament and he rarely thinks about it outside the sacrament.Private confession is offered in my Anglican church but it’s optional and I think most people don’t do it. Hmmm that’s interesting. Thank you for explaining that to me.No. They operate in persona Christi. They are there to operate in reconciliation and forgiveness. He was just giving me his experience. Hard to say what other priests experience during that time.Hmmm that’s interesting. Thank you for explaining that to me.
I’ve never had a priest sound judgemental but I did once get refused absolution. He wanted me to say I was returning to the RCC and not going to take communion at the Lutheran church I was also going to anymore. At the time I couldn’t make that promise.Private confession is offered in my Anglican church but it’s optional and I think most people don’t do it. I’ve also heard it said that priests don’t remember the sins of the penitents. He was just giving me his experience. Hard to say what other priests experience during that time.
I have as well, They hear hundreds or thousands and on and on, and they do not need to hold onto them.I’ve also heard it said that priests don’t remember the sins of the penitents.
They do receive training on how to forget.I have as well, They hear hundreds or thousands and on and on, and they do not need to hold onto them.
They have problems of their own.
I think Grace helps them forget as the Lord forgets. They do receive training on how to forget.
True. And that’s an important thing to remember.I have as well, They hear hundreds or thousands and on and on, and they do not need to hold onto them.
They have problems of their own.
