  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

:prayer: Prayer is as important to the spiritual life of the Christian as breathing is to our physcal life.:prayer:

Lets pray together!! :groupray: Post long prayers, short prayers biblical prayers mantras any prayer, praise, thanksgiving you or anyone else writes etc.

I'll start with my all time favorite prayer: Matthew 6:9-13 here from the New Living Translation:

9Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be honored.

10 May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done here on earth,
just as it is in heaven.

11 Give us our food for today,[a]

12 and forgive us our sins,
just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. 13 And don't let us yield to temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]

Footnotes:
  1. <LI id=fen-NLT-23276a>Matthew 6:11 Or for tomorrow.
  2. Matthew 6:13 Or from evil. Some manuscripts add For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
all for JESUS!!

The most simplest of prayers:

"The name of Jesus should be repeated over and over in the heart, as flashes of lightening are repeated over and over in the sky before the rain....."

This is a Catholic favorite prayer for rekindling love in the Lord:

PRAYER OF ST.BONADVENTURE

Pierce, O Most Sweet Jesus Christ, my inmost soul with the most joyous and healthful pang of Your love, with true, serene, and most holy apostalic charity, so that my soul may always languish and melt with love for You; that it may yearn for You and Your dwelling-place, and long to be dissolved and to be with You! Grant that my soul may hunger after You, the Bread of Angels, the Refreshment of Holy Souls, our Daily and Superstantial bread, having all the sweetness and savor and every delight to the taste. let my heart always hunger and feed upon You, Whom the angels yearn to look upon, and may my inmost soul be filled with the sweetness of Your Savor. May it always thirst after You, the Source of Life, the Source of Wisdom and Knowledge, the Source of Eternal Light, the Torrent of Pleasure, the Richness of the House of God. May it always compass You, seek You, find You, run to You, attain to you, meditate upon You, speak of You, and do all things for the Honor and Glory of Thy Holy Name, with humility and discretion, with love and delight, with readiness and affection, and with perserverance to the end. Be alone my hope and my whole confidence, my riches, my delight, my pleasure and my joy, my rest and my tranquility; my oeace and my sweetness and my fragrance, my sweet savor, my food and refreshment, my refuge and my help; my wisdom and my portion, my possession and my treasure, in whom may my mind and my heart be always fixed and firm and rooted immovably.
In Jesus' Name.
Amen

A Prayer:

Lord, keep me from the habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion.
Release me from craving to straighten out everybody's affairs.
Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details---give me wings to get to the point.
I ask for grace enough to listen to the tales of others' pains. Help me to endure them with patience. But seal my lips to my own aches and pains---they are increasing and my love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by.
Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally it is possible that I may be mistaken.
Keep me reasonably sweet; I do not want to be a saint---some of them are so hard to live with---but a sour old person is one of the crowning works of the devil.
Give me the ability to see good things in unexpected places and talents in unexpected people. And, give me, O Lord, the grace to tell them so.
Make me thoughtful, but not moody; helpful, but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all---but Thou knowest, O Lord, that I want a few friends in the end."

Help us, Father, to carry on the work Jesus started, and help us make a full life for all people.

Please finish the work you started in us, when you called us in our youth, and keep blessing the hope you laid out for us in heaven. Please strengthen us with all power, according to Your Glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, reminding us to give thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Thank you for delivering us from the dominion of darkness and transferring us to the Kingdom of Thy Beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

In Jesus' Name,

Amen

did you read matt 6:7?

matt 6:7 But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

God hears you once ....does not take time to get there!

PRAYER FOR THE HOME

We beseech You, O Lord, visit this home, and drive far from it the snares of the enemy.
Let Your Holy Angles dwell therein so as to preserve us in peace; and
Let Your blessings be always upon us.

Through Christ Our Lord,

Amen

does that mean that you only tell your spouse or other loved one "I love you" once?????????

or do you pluck out your eye when you look lustfully at another person
etc

i'm sorry but i think there is a difference between meditative constant prayer using a "mantra" and vain repetitions as the heathen do. actually GOD knows what you need before you ask so should we pray at all??

JESUS, I love YOU!! help our dear "Brothern in CHRIST" to be less judgemental and spend more time in praying. Bless him in many ways!! draw him closer and closer to you!! amen.

I pray that lonnie want to really know your will? so that he can be in it and not be unrighteous ... or sinning since I have given him knowledge of this.

no one know everthing when one brings you new information do you kill the sender or thank him ....what would be wise....

plucking out of the eye is for the 1000 year reign... why angels will take you to hell Matt 13:38-43 ....special attention to verse 43

not for us either....

Perhaps the most complete prayer is running to our Abba with the freedom we have in Christ and climbing on His lap and hugging Him and resting our weary head on His chest.

Sometimes words are lost. Only the Holy Spirit can say the words we cannot for He knows our heart.

Grant, O Lord,
That our homes may have a stable spiritual foundation,
Where Christ's presence may be felt and revered.
Teach us the true meaning of love and togetherness in the common life.

In Jesus' Name,

Amen
