• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

So... for months last year I was trying to stop drinking. I would be up and down but couldn't control it. I was praying about it a lot and one day in January I just stopped. I had some experiences that that led me to believe God was showing me I needed to stop drinking so much.

I now do not crave alcohol. I drink socially 1-2 times a month and only have one or 2 and I never crave more. I do not believe I was an alcoholic but was headed down that path. This would not have been possible without my restored faith. I continue to improve my life and am trying daily to be a better Christian! If I can do it anybody can! I will pray for you all and hope my story inspires you. :amen:

It does not inspire me but makes me realize I have a bad relationship with God. Why? I don't put anything into it these days. People that are in a relationship with God I can see this happening for. My hat is off to you. If you even come back to read this, best to you.

Well I did come back and read it! Months later, haha... God will continue to test you and will not throw anything your way you cannot handle. I still am being tested as since I have quit drinking I have developed mild anxiety this past year. Affects my sleep cycle, which is why I am still up at 6am! Well, I ain't going back to my old ways! Just need to get rid of the anxiety/fear now! It's on it's way out the door

Anyways, I hope and pray things will be better for you and you get that relationship with God that is essential to overcoming addiction!
