REV 20:7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth--Gog and Magog--to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The verse right before it describes the fire from heaven. The picture is made more clear if you understand the lake of fire to be the old earth as it is destroyed. So the fire comes from heaven, destroys the earth, then God creates the new earth:

2PE 3:3 First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, "Where is this `coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

also later in the chapter:

2PE 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

2PE 3:11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

Hmm... the wicked will be on the earth after the thousand years are up and then God will send a fire down to destroy them. It is ONLY Satan and the false prophets that will be tortured and tormented for eternity.. thats what we believe.. that is not including the wicked people as what some people believe.

I think we believe that Satan and his angels (along with the aforementioned wicked people) will be completely destroyed -- not be tormented throughout eternity.

If I recall correctly, I was told that some suffering will last longer than others --given the amount of "light" they had and the refusal to accept the Lord of Love and obey His commandments.
Edited to add: I have no idea where in the Bible to find the above regarding length of suffering -- it might have been from other sources.

It sorta looks like from what I read here and in something else every SDA member has his/her seperate belief on this.

No, the official Adventist belief is that Satan and his angels will be completely destroyed. Some among us may disagree, however, with some of the official beliefs.

okay from what i read SDA beleivs that at the end the wicked will be on the earth (including Satan) but God will bring down fire from heaven and destroy them (including apollyon) but what about Rev. 20:10? Revelation 20:10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Hell is on earth... That's simply the answer.

 I used to think it was a contridiction, too! So I asked my bible study helper on sabbathtruth about this, and their response was this-

The words "for ever" do not necessarily mean "without end." In fact, the Bible uses the term fifty-six times ("For ever" can be found in your biblical concordance under "Ever") in connection with the things which have already ended. In Exodus 21 :1-6 the Hebrew servant was to serve his master "for ever," but it was obviously only as long as he lived. Hannah took her son Samuel to God's house to abide "for ever," but she plainly limited that time to "as long as he liveth." 1 Samuel 1:22, 28.

The term is clearly defined in Psalms 48:14, "For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death." The desolation of Edom was to continue "for ever and ever." Isaiah 34:10. Christ is called "a priest for ever" (Hebrews 5:6), yet after sin is blotted out, Christ's work as a priest will end. The Bible states, "The wicked ... shall be destroyed for ever." Psalm 92:7.

You're right in saying this. That is because there are variations in all faiths. However, the veiw that Satan etc will be in everlasting punishment is not accepted by most adventists  and I must ask, if that were true, and this was taking place on earth, then how can the new earth be made? o_O

thank you..I was going to bring up the different "forevers" in the Bible, as well...

It's also my belief that eternal burning, or eternal punishment translates to eternal life.
Eternal life is a GIFT for embracing our Savior Jesus Christ!!
