Who has heard of this apostacy being promoted through the churches? I just read an eye opening book called the Omega Rebellion that speaks about this form of mystic spiritualism. AKA meditative prayer...

Do you know anyone that has studied this or have you been trained in it?

Thoughts... discussion??

This has been widely taught and practiced in Adventist schools/academic circles. I have an article on this but have not completed it.

This origin of this was Dr. JH Kellogg was into Pantheism. He used mysticism to seduce both AT Jones and EJ Waggoner. EGW called this the Alpha of Omega.

Contemplative prayer or centering prayer is an induced hypnosis through repeating/contemplating on a key word or phrase.

There are several variations. But it originated with Ignatius of Loyola known as the Spiritual Exercise of Ignatius of Loyola. About a few decades ago, a Dominican priest Matthew Fox who is into Pantheism started what's called Spiritual Formation. Contemplative prayer is one of the practices of it. In my opinion, one of the keys to recognize the Esoterics is the recognition of the key words. In this case, they are: journey, channel, spiritual guide/instructor, centering prayer, retreat...

The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola are a month-long program of meditations, prayers, considerations, and contemplative practices that help Catholic faith become more fully alive in the everyday life of contemporary people. It is set out in a brief manual or handbook: sparse, taciturn, and practical. It presents a formulation of Ignatius' spirituality in a series of prayer exercises, thought experiments, and examinations of consciousness—designed to help a retreatant (usually with the aid of a spiritual director) to experience a deeper conversion into life with God in Christ, to allow our personal stories to be interpreted by being subsumed in a Story of God. The Ignatian method of prayer uses visual imagination to draw nearer to God.” --- www.nwjesuits.org/JesuitSpirituality/SpiritualExercises.html

Adventist schools have been infected with this for about 3 decades. The CUC (Columbian Union College) president Bill Loveless taught this to the ministerial students. I have a video clip of him teaching this.

There was one poster here (many will remember) was introduced to it by Loveless. She went through many exorcisms and was still having problems.

After 11 years at CUC, Bill Loveless went to Loma Linda university. And he's still up to the same tricks corrupting the students there.

The book "How to be a master student" teaches eastern mysticism is now a required reading in Adventist colleges.

Adventist church is the biggest participants of the Willow-Creek school of church growth. Willow Creek teaches spiritual formation.

Adventist church is also the biggest participants of NLP (neural linguistic programming) training. NLP is a mind control techniques: auto suggestion, mirror imaging, physical mantras...

Here is a doctorate discipline (spiritual formation) offered by Andrews university.

Ellen White wrote about the inroads of spiritualism into the church.
And the Omega in the last days is even deadlier than the alpha.

There are times when important movements must be made in a crisis that the Lord permits--the development of an evil work which has long been in minds and hearts. The work of advancement in the proclamation of truth has at such times been greatly hindered [by] specious workings, which are the Alpha of the Omega, which means very much to the people who are in any way connected with parties who have received the warnings of the Lord, but refused to heed them. . . . {11MR 211.1}

Unless the heart, mind, soul, and strength are completely conformed to the will of Christ, the science studied will not give entrance into the narrow way and the strait gate that lead to eternal life. Strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Because broad is the way, and wide is the gate that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat. Those who regard it as a valuable science to be sharp, to take advantage of and cheat their neighbors, are cheating their own soul, and unless they change, they can never enter the holy city. No crooked dealing, no deceptive science, will find a place in the heavenly courts. . . . {11MR 212.3}

We are now to be on guard, and not drawn away from the all-important message given of God for this time. Satan is not ignorant of the result of trying to define God and Jesus Christ in a spiritualistic way that sets God and Christ as a nonentity. The moments occupied in this kind of science are, in the place of preparing the way of the Lord, making a way for Satan to come in and confuse the minds with mysticisms of his own devising. Although they are dressed up in angel robes they have made our God and our Christ a nonentity. Why?--because Satan sees the minds are all fitted for his working. Men have lost tract of Christ and the Lord God, and have been obtaining an experience that is Omega to one of the most subtle delusions that will ever captivate the minds of men. We are forbidden to . . . set the imagination in a train of conjecture.--Diary, #48, pp. 153, 163, Aug. 25 and Aug. 28, 1904.

Thanx for posting up that excellent synopsis DL... it seems to me you wouldn't benefit much from the book The Omega Rebellion as it covers exactly what you have been researching. This definitely going to be the deception that will bring truth loving, God fearing Adventists away from passing the crisis test.

I pray the Holy Spirit be heeded by those involved in this satanic practice...

The saddest thing about the Laodeceans is that they can't see their nakedness because they are in darkness. Most will not believe you when tell them these things.

Jan Marcussen produced a video series 'Catholic Charismatic attacks on SDA church' exposing these. Bob Trefz has/had a more updated, deeper expose of them. They are on google video and parts of the web if you can find them.

Look at this article on spiritual formation on Adventist Today

Spirituality and Spiritual Formation | Adventist Today

A very deceptive article as the author, while seeming to at times agree with President Wilson, uses language that equates sister White with mystics and suggests that spiritual formation is a personal choice based on our own experience, to not define these things by rigid definitions.

Also the readers comments were quite telling as well... one reader actually suggesting a regime of morning and evening prayer based on Catholic practice.

You are right. I'm guilty of not doing my homework. I had read only the first paragraph, assuming it was going along the lines of what Ted Wilson said.

Now rereading it, I thought it should have been called Catholic Today, not Adventist Today. Bill Loveless also called Ellen White a mystic.

The author is obviously an expert in spiritual formation as he argues for it he describes the essential practice of the spiritual exercise of Ignatius. And then his arguments were quotes from Catholics (Franciscan, Dominican and Trappist) who were the principle founders of these spiritual practices.

And the information at the end about the author says it all.

Bill Cork is pastor of the North Houston and Spring Creek churches in the Texas Conference. Most of his ministry has been spent in the areas of young adult and public college campus ministry; he's also been a chaplain in the Army Reserve and National Guard. He is a graduate of Atlantic Union College, the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (MA in church history, MDiv), and the Graduate Theological Foundation (DMin in ecumenism).

Many, many wolves among the sheep....

My wife and I are planning on going back to our conference SDA church to be a voice against some of the apostacy that is happening. I thank the Lord for teaching me these things while away from the conference. I could/would not have learned these truths if I had stayed but I now realize the wheat grows up with the tares for a reason.

Please keep me in prayer as I try and reach some brethren.

Praise the Lord for this! He hasn't removed the candlestick from the church, yet.

Be forewarned that the naked people do not like it when someone turns on the light in the room. :D

But their blood would not be on our hands if we sound the trumpet. God bless and let the love of Jesus shine!

I'm excited to see SDAs actually becoming aware of this danger instead of being swept up in the midst of it! I actually know the author of the book Omega Rebellion. Rick Howard is quite good friends with my father-in-law. Additional eye-opening resources are Omega and Omega II by Lewis Walton as well as Faith Undone by Roger Oakland. Oakland is not an SDA but I think in this context it is all the more telling. There are even non-SDAs who are being warned of this rising apostasy. God bless you guys.

Hi,

Thanks for the encouragement! I'd say the trumpet has been sounding since the early 90's. But the enemy has done all he can to silence and marginalize these warnings. I think now it remains to be seen what God's plan is with Ted Wilson being elected and firing the first salvo on this omega apostasy. I have full confidence in the scriptures when it says if it were possible (but it is not) to deceive the very elect.
