I would like to see a separate faith group for Contemplative Christians. Threads appear on various forums, but we lack a space to discuss our practices and offer support for one another.

For those unfamiliar with the subject, Contemplative Christianity is:

"Grounded in specific spiritual practices such as the prayerful and slow reading of scripture, meditative prayer (lectio divina), taking time for silence and solitude, receiving the Eucharist, and an overall inward attentiveness to God’s presence."

Practitioners are found in various traditions. But we're united in our commitment for deepening our time in the Lord's presence. Thank you for your consideration.

Yours in His Service,

~Bella

You may find the following forums of interest and could work, if the subject received much traction we can see if there would be a possibility of a specific forum.
Spiritual Formation & Disciplines
Prayer Wall Discussion and Inspiration (prayer discussion)

I am thinking the Formation and Disciplines could work overall, it would be worth starting some threads there to see if there is interest. :)

One of my lifetime goals has been to go on a pilgrimage to Taize in France. I love their contemplative worship.

Have you thought about Iona or St. David's' (wales)? Closer to home, and also inspiring in a similar way. Those two are on my list of place to visit someday.

Our local Episcopal cathedral does what they call a contemplative Eucharist service on Saturday afternoons. Its basically lectio divina of one of the day’s scripture readings accompanied by Taize’ music.

St David's in Wales might be a bit easier for me to get to from where I am.
This autumn, I was planning to go on a pilgrimage to Walsingham with my church, but due to the current situation, I doubt that will be happening for some time now.

Steve,

Thank you for pointing out the forums. :)

I considered Spiritual Formation & Disciplines some time ago. The daily post is the primary one on the forum and the others are a mixture of this and that. Whereas contemplation has specific components for engagement. They're building blocks of sorts for a cohesive practice. That inspired my request.

Yours in His Service,

~Bella

Anthony,

I've heard wonderful reports about Taize. How long is the pilgrimage? Would you go alone or with a group?

Tigger,

Have you attended the service? I had the opportunity to do lectio divina at a monastery. It was part of my quiet time but I didn't have a name for the practice until we met. Do you do the same at home?

I think most people go for about a week. It mostly caters for younger people up to the age of 30, but over 30s are welcome to go, but not in groups. The contemplative worship really appeals to me - I have always loved their songs and chants and their pursuit for peace and unity amongst people.

As well as using music for contemplative worship, I like taking part in silent prayer. I've been a guest/resident at a number of monasteries and love sitting with the monks in silent prayer in the chapel in the evening. One of the places was near the coast where we would sit in the chapel at night in candlelight and all you could hear was the sound of the sea.

Oh yes. Before Corvid hit I attended once or twice a month. At home I usually practice mindfulness meditation.
