contemplating policy cost

After a year of living here, our home policy for free will become a premium of $700/yr. Is it worth it to renew this policy or just put aside some money each month for anything that needs to be fixed?

Do you mean a repair policy for major appliances? If that is what you mean, I would say the answer depends on the age of the appliances and whether or not you foresee needing to repair or replace them in the coming year. You could also consider putting a plan on just the more expensive appliances, such as A/C, water heater, and not covering the ones that would be more manageable to pay for when repair or replacement becomes necessary.

I once used this type of policy for the replacement of a water heater and it was really nice not to have to pay a big chunk of money out of my pocket for the new one. But, mine broke during the free period.

I'm not sure yiu want to do that. If you get the claws in you then its not easy to get out. Sometimes you just have to float the wave in and be part of the beach or like the rocks. You know? Its a salty bath of sin.
