In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey there.

I have seen the trailers to this movie on TV, but I was wondering if anyone knows if this would be an okay movie by the Church standards? The storyline is a bit dubious, so I thought I'd ask.

Also, on this topic, is there maybe a website or something that I can visit letting me know what movies are okay or not okay but Church standards?

I do not want to do something wrong by going to see a movie!

My brothers and friends saw it, they liked it. After the movie they asked me "Was the angel Gabriel cast out of heaven?" and i'm like... Uhh..no. Then just looked at them puzzled.. "Are you sure?" ... Yea i'm sure.. " Oh ok nevermind.."

I have a friend who is really freaking out after having heard about the premise. (She hasn't seen it yet, she just heard about it from a family member.) It's kind put her into a crisis along the lines of "What if I think I've been talking to God and it's really been the devil?? What if that feeling of being protected all the time has not been God?" Because apparently the premise of the movie is that God and the devil are sort of equally ambivalent figures that you can't really tell apart, and they don't care about the people on earth... I haven't seen it either, so I'm only going by what worries my friend. After seeing her so rattled by it, I would not recommend it.

The character Constantine in the movie "Constantine" is not Emperor Constantine, but is some modern guy who had committed suicide and went to hell, but he returned to life in two minutes and now is sorta stuck between heaven and hell as an anti-hero who battles demons who are roaming Earth but they should not be on Earth per the rules set by God and the devil to not directly interfere with humans but merely to influence them.

The movie, based on a comic book, is bad theology.
