Appearance: Constance is best described by the word "cute". Her skin is fair with the lightest spatter of freckles on the bridge of her nose and underneath her large eyes, though it's not noticeable until you get close up. She has a small chin, though not weak, and full lips underneath a slightly upturned button nose. Her eyes are a pleasing mixture of hazel and gold, her eyelashes dark and long. Her long blond hair has a definite wave to it, making it thick and full. She usually has it parted on the side and then the fronts pulled back around to the back of her head and clasped with a hairclip, letting it sweep across one side of her forehead.
She's not very tall, and she's thin as well, but is definitely a bit more developed than other girls her age with a more womanly figure. She wears traditional peasant's clothing, most often with a bodice lacing up the front over a chemise and skirt. Around her neck hangs a silver locket, the only thing of value she really has, though it doesn't have any portraits inside. Just an empty locket, something her father gave her before he died.
Personality: Constance is a flirt. There really is no other word for her. Within the last two years she had learned to use her looks to her advantage, getting what she wants with a simple wink or smile or giggle. She may only be sixteen, but she is the unofficial leader of the younger servant girls in the castle. As such, she's the one who sets the trend, always leading and never following. She's stubborn and likes to have things her way, probably because during her childhood, things rarely did go her way. She's smart, but not very insightful. Many people consider her to be a bit shallow, but she's not. She's just a very good actress and can sometimes come across as a bit of a snob. She's always conscious of the people watching her and consequently isn't herself most of the time, but rather puts on an act. She acts as though she has everything together but deep down is still searching for who she is.
Background: Born to Emma and Edward Elliott, peasants living on a tiny farm just outside Floresco, Constance has never had much money. She was the youngest of eight children, and was consequently the one who was pretty much ignored by her siblings. Her mother was very strict and it seemed there was a rule against just about everything under the sun. And as she got older, Constance would frequently try to break those rules as an act of rebellion.
Her father died two weeks after her twelfth birthday, having given her the locket she wears around her neck as a birthday present. Her mother attempted to keep the farm going with her children, but it soon proved impossible. The family moved into a one-room house in Floresco's slums. Her older siblings got jobs, but no one would take Constance because they claimed she was too small and wouldn't be much help.
When she was thirteen, she was finally hired in Lord Arnau's castle as an errand girl. She did odd jobs around the castle, all of the money she earned going back to her mother in the slums. But Constance adapted to her new life quickly as she had newfound freedom in being away from her mother. She was known throughout the servants quarters as being a bit of a free spirit, no one tying her down, always ready to try new things. And as she got older, her body changing and developing new emotions, especially regarding boys, Constance's life took a new direction. That of men. She was constantly aware of how she looked and tried to make herself look older, prettier. She liked the attention she would get from men and boys and would often dress to catch a boy's eye. Many of the women looked down on her for it, saying she'd end up pregnant by the time she was seventeen.
At fifteen, Constance lost her virginity. To a twenty-year-old Olumcai soldier who had promised to show her a good time. Being young and curious, Constance agreed. But he was quite rough with her and she found she didn't like the experience much at all, feeling a bit dirty and used for awhile afterwards. But a few months later, a seventeen-year-old squire for one of Lord Arnau's knights caught her eye. His name was Judd and he was very handsome, strong, with a quick smile and a penchant for trouble, just like Constance. It was clear he was after her body, but she didn't let it bother her, turning it into a game of cat and mouse. During this time, she found she had power over the male species by teasing and flirting and yet keeping her distance.
But finally, two weeks before her sixteenth birthday, Constance allowed Judd to take her. It was clear he was much more experienced than she was, and she experienced it for the first time in a pleasurable way. For awhile, she and Judd would meet frequently, sleeping together often, a fact that earned her a bit of a reputation for being a tramp among the castle servants.
