Confusion

I am so confused...

I dont know what to think anymore. What should I do? I try to be a good christian and just go on having faith, but blind faith is not alwas good, especially when faced with so many things that challenge my beliefs.

Lately I have been faced with a lot of these things, for one thing there is that show about Jesus and Mary Magdelene having children, there is also a lot of things in the bible that... I just dont know, so many things just dont add up.

I am really confused, what should I do? I have been christian all my life but now, faced with this information, I just dont know.

Also as I look back in my life there are a lot of other things that dont add up about my religion, help me figure out what to do...

You'd best not be going on blind faith. The faith Jesus talks about is "as a child". Certainly a child does not trust those who harm him.

As for this about Jesus and Mary, it's up to you. What is the source of this teaching, and why would you trust them?

The thing about the sex is on another thread "Jesus had sex?" and it was on a show on the discovery channel.

It isnt just that either, its a whole bunch of things that dont add up.

My dear friend, you are being sifted, just as Peter was sifted. Pray for faith. Pray that God reveals all to you through His Holy Spirit.
The Bible, although unbelieveable through the eyes of man, is transparent and true when you allow the Holy Spirit to focus your thoughts and your heart on what truth is.
You do not have to be a religious person for Christ, just a follower. By opening up your heart and letting the Holy Spirit empty out all the old, you make room for Christ.
That is when Christ, who is in you, can operate through you. It is not you operating as Christ, like Christ, from Christ, with Christ, or in Christ. It is Christ do the deeds and you allowing Him to do those deeds.
What is popular on tv shows and some books does not make them either real or informed. They will and do stretch the
so-called evidence they have accumulated to fit their hypothesis. All secular explainations should be discarded.
They do not believe in the miracles, the resurrection or
anything they cannot see, feel, touch.
Christ has called us, disciples, friends, to rise above the pettiness of the world and look to who died and saved us from ourselves. Jesus.

Thank you Solo66_man and Shane_roach for all your help, this really is a confusing time, and to be perfectly frank, I am not sure if christianity is the place for me. I need to do some searching. Who knows maybe i will find the truth in a different religion or rediscover it in christianity.

I would still like to hear others comments and opinions. It is greatly appreciated.

This same thing happened to me years ago when I left the catholic church. So many things didn't add up. I was really scared. But you know what?? I now know why God did what HE did...he wanted ME to learn and wanted me to be fully convinced in MY own mind about the truth, not from what some man said about the truth.
It is possible that God is leading you somewhere else...where ever that may be, it is always HIM within you.
I think maybe you are intimadated by this information that you are being given, because maybe you have never really looked it up. Well this still happens to me and i pray and I read and then the truth is revealled by me allowing the Holy Spirit to help me see the truth in Gods word.
As a matter of fact I have been "in the wilderness" for a couple of years now studying Gods word and prepearing myself for what ever church He leads me to.
I was in a great church when I lived in Germany but I had to leave, death in the family, hubbie got out of the army ect ect.
So you see...maybe you need sometime in the wilderness to get yourself strait with Gods word. I am assuming that you are already strait with God concerning your salvation.
PM me with the details about this stuff if you wish...we might just have ALOT in common!

First ask yourself why are you a christian. Is it because of head knowledge? God is a mystery and always will be. Can I explain everything about him, or do I understand the bible fully? NO. The pharisees memorized whole books and still didn't get it. Have faith, take courage, trust God and if your faith wavers lean on mine for awhile. Don't give up, God wins it all in the end I'll pray for ya...for wisdom, understanding and most of all perserverance.

Good News:

I am challenged on a daily basis at work. I have to stay educated and up to date with the newest threats to my faith.

You can't just change your religion because it doesn't fit what the scientists of philosophers tell you. Deception is Satan's greatest tool.

No other religion will bring you to God, no other religion is true. Arm yourself with knowledge. Don't just watch some show on Discovery and say "Well, it was on TV so it must be true." You must also find Christian sources, ask the Christians the tough questions. Seek wisdom and guidance from elder and stronger Christians.

Giving up on GOd would be the biggest decision (not to mention worst) you have ever or will ever make. Be serious about your faith. Don't sit on a fence and let some other joker tell you what the truth is. Seek God and your eyes will be opened to his wonder. The closer you get to Him, the more you know he's really there.

As green eyed lady said, I am going to let God lead me to the truth. I believe in a higher power, no doubt about it, but Jesus adn the bible... I just dont know anymore. I mean how can we say we know the truth because we have a supposedly divinely inspired book? Most religions have their own supposedly divinely inspired book. I just dont know.

You keep mentioning that 'so many things don't add up'. For starters, why don't you post everything you think doesn't 'add up', and we will be able to address each of those concerns.

May I make a couple of suggestions...

First, prayfully read your bible each day, The word of God can help innoculate you, against the endless "information" on the air waves.
A good study bible may help, A stduy bible can help you examine may questions you might have.

As far as TV is concerned. Many of these stations like discovery, TLC and History often present fragmentary and sensationalized topics. remember these stations are trying to draw in advertisers and viewers so anything sensational, will be but on the air.Many times these shows will present speculation and make it appear as fact. Also many issues are too complicated to be presented in a half hour, one hour or even three hour format.

I pray, The Lord will guide you.
before being saved I was very much a agnostic and skeptic. But the Lord showed through his word, That he is true and many of the thing the "world" prononuce as true are false.
