• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Things are still not real clear as to what all procedures will be followed, but I wanted to let you know what I learned this last week.

While members are welcome to post their thoughts in reports and the moderators will of course read them and take them into consideration, they actually give no direction to what we will rule in reports or how we will act upon them.

Another problem that is being looked into is that many people are going into reports only to cause trouble and flame people. I've had so many reports to handle lately I haven't adrressed this problem and not sure if I will, mainly because there is little that can be done about folks who don't know how to behave and make good use of the reports being open for all to view.

Cooperation is 100% voluntary, so many do not. Whether you wish to cooperate or not is up to each of you. I would suggest that those who post in reports only to flame others be admonished by others, not by mods as this doesn't seem to work at all.

Something else many of you don't know is that we can not exclude unbelievers or liberals from posting here just because they are such. I would hope that many of you would use the opportunity given to witness in a loving manner especially to unbelievers. What good is your faith if you don't share it? As Jesus said, we shouldn't hide our light but let it shine for all to see.

We can limit the content of what people write here, but this will also affect those of you who consider yoursleves as members here, not just visitors.

I'm having doubts myself if all these changes we've had since 7-7 will work out at all, which I think is why we have the recent survey posted by Erwin.

I know some of what I said here will not be in agreement with what you had invisioned, but I ask that this thread be used for constructive discussion and not flaming others.

Jim just to be clear are you saying we can't bar liberals and nonchristians from say debating on this forum without doing away with debating entirely.

No, not saying that at all, but, there have been many reports made about what people believed were debate posts and they were not at all. So anyone who attempts to exclude anyone just because they are not a conservative Christian doesn't understand what the CF forum rules are, which we can not override with our forum specific rules.

Again, we can limit them in debate and what they say, but we can not exclude them from posting.

Actually, we can. Erwin redacted that part, and said people are allowed to bar people completely from their congregational fora. He made a later announcement. It doesn't mean we should, but the option is there.
