confused

I am really confused on what to beleive. My father is jewish and my mother is christain. I was broguht up to read the bible and follow most christain beleifs, but we also follow most jewish beleifs. We celebrate passover and Hanukka. We eat alot of kosher things, but I know nothing about the jewish religion. I know a little bit on messianic jews but still a little confused. Is that what I am considerd, but I'm not sure since I know nothing on the religion. I want to know what is right and whats not. I would appreciate it if someone could please help me understand. Thank you soo much.

Shalom Funnybunny and Welcome Ali!

Before I can answer too much for you, could you maybe answer me a few questions? I will be back later so don't think I am ignoring you, I have some Messinic business to attend to with some of the leaders of my congregation, but will be back later tonight.

1. You said that your father is Jewish, does he believe in Yeshua/Jesus, as the Messiah?

2. Have you ever been to synagogue? Does your father go to synagogue or Temple?

3. What do you believe? as far as G-d and Yeshua, Jesus?

Hope to see you later!

Thank you for writing me back SonWorshiper. I'll start with answering your questions. I'm not really sure if my father beleives in Jesus because I've never really gotten a chance to discuss it with him before. I remember one time when I was little I had asked him about Jesus and he told me not to worry about it. My father was brought up to be jewish and even had a bar mitzvah when he was 13 so I know he follows the beleifs and all. But he does not attend a synagogue. I really want to go to one, but don't know how since my father dosnt attend one. We eat kosher foods most of the time so it's confusing. What I beleive is that Jesus was the lords son and rose from the dead. I'm not really sure what to beleive anymore though because we celebrate all of the jewish holidays and half of my family is full blooded jews. My grandfather said somthing about how I need to go to school and learn hebrew like the rest of the family but I don't know what to do. I really want to become jewish like the rest of my family, but I was raised to be a christain and follow what they beleive. What's right? My dad reads the jewish bible which is all in hebrew, but my mother and I read the holy bible. I've also come to realizt that it speaks alot about the jews. That's got me wondering also if judaism is the right religion. Please help. Thank you.

Hey there Ali! Well... Jesus was a Jew Himself. But He issued in a new covenant, which is what Christianity is about.

You say that you have a Bible... do you read it a lot? If you really don't... then you should really start with the New Testament (especially Matthew in your cause since he wrote specifically about the Gospel -good news- to Jews and the book of Hebrews as well since it deals with the new covenant). Many of the books of the NT deal with smoothing out the problems arising from switching from Judaism to Christianity. And they are written much better than what I can explain. Ask God to teach you as you read too.

Hi Ali

, I am sorry but our meeting went to late, I am just getting back a little while ago. I have a few more questions for you so that I may understand your situation more. But first I would like to say that you are on the right road, because Yeshua/Jesus is the way! :)

Now for a few more questions:

1. You say that your father reads from the Jewish bible in Hebrew, has he ever tried to teach you to read from it?

2. It is not clear so I need to ask if you are all together, your mom and dad and you?

3.What church do you and your mom attend?

4. Has your Dad ever gone, and what are his feelings about this?

5. Was your mother a Chirstian when they got married?

It is so wonderful that the Spirit has you looking, searching, and that is a good thing, and you have come to the right place. One thing for sure is that you are Jewish and nothing can change that. I think that you are seeking out your Jewish roots and are confused by what you see at home. So I hope that we can help you here and that will be an uplifting experience for you.

Bless you!
SonWorshipper

I look forward to talking to you tomorrow!

Shalom! :)

Son Worshipper,
Thank you soo much. You are already starting to help. No, my father never really taught me anything from his bible. See, my parents are divorced, and I live with my father, but him and my mother are totally opposite when it comes to religion. And I have a step mother too. She's catholic, so I'm pretty much in the same position. When my parents got married she was a christain at the time also. But it was a big argument throughout both sides of my family because my fathers side had wanted a huge jewish wedding, just like everyone else had had, but my mom won because she just wasn't in to that. Well before when I lived with my mother, we attended Valley Bible church. It was a great church, but somthing just didn't feel right. Though we did have communion once a month. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure what my father thinks about church. I have no idea if he has ever gone to one, but since I can remember, he hasn't. I do know he went to temple and stuff like that when he was little, he went to school and learned hebrew. But that's basically all I know. If you have any more questions, please ask because I really need your help lol. Thank you ssoooo much sonworshipper for helping me.

Thank you ssbq, I will do that. Just one thing, will it confuse you if you just jump from place to place in the bible. Because right now I am on Deutaronomy, and I get scared if I just skip ahead, I will be totally lost. Or that can't happen since there all mostly seprerate books right? Sorry lol, but I will do that. Thanks for your help.

you have a wonderful opportunity here, Ali!

First of all, how wonderful to be aware and have such intimate knowledge of the various Holy Days. The Spring Holy days have been fulfilled in Yeshua, the Autumn ones have yet to be.

When you are older....I say this because I notice you are fifteen? When you are more mobile and independent, why not seek out a messianic Jewish synogogue? Over here on the East Cost of the US, for example, we have five of them which are affiliated with each other. The majority of the attendees are Jewish men and women who believe in Yeshua!

Who knows, but that you might be the one used to bring your father to Yeshua! How marvelous that would be!

If I were you, I would immerse myelf in the Bible, reading and studying as much as possible.

I could recommend a couple of books to you which may complement your studies, if you wish to pm me.

I am sure Sonworshipper and others can also recommend books which will help you as well!

Hi Ali!

Thanks for responding so openly and honestly! :clap:You have a beautiful spirit! I am sorry for asking so many questions, but simple answers aren't easy without full understanding of a situation. I had a feeling last night that your parents were separated or divorced, something just seemed off. Have you been the one to decide where you are living? How long have your parents been apart?

I am so happy to see that you are searching and looking for answers, because I know this is the Holy Spirit in you urging you to find your roots. I wish I could give you a big  right now, as the Spirit in me can see this in your words!

I don't want you to get more confused, but reading the word of the L-rd is always good. There is Torah, the first five books of the Bible and each week it is divided into portions, or Parsha. In this division you can read the whole of Torah in a year, and this is what Jews all over the world do. It is mostly in synagogue but you can do this on your own also.

I have a "Complete Jewish bible" which contains the "Old Testament" as well as the new and the Torah is divided up into the Parshas, with also a Haftarah portion ( from the Prophets ) and also corresponding scriptures from the New Testament, or "Brit Chadasha". I have been thinking of starting a weekly post thread in this forum so others that don't have access to it will know what to read. This will help you to study and learn, and any questions you have on that week's portion can be discussed in that thread. How's that sound?

My dear little sister in the L-rd, I love you and am so happy that you have been lead here by the L-rd for that is what happened even though you may not realize it, and I feel very blessed to have been found worthy by Him to help you.

Sonworshipper,
I can't beleive I met a person like you! I am so thankful you decided to help me. And beleive me, everything you have told me helped alot. There was another person that wrote to me saying that when I get a little older, I should try to find a messianic synagogue to attend. I think it would be good, but I still need to study this religion although I'm sure that would help alot. I was meaning to ask if you could explain a little bit more about the torah? Because I sort of got lost there lol. But I hear alot of people in this forum talk about it and I really want to learn and understand it better. Again, thank you sonworshipper X10, no X20!! lol.

Well... sure readin Deuteronomy is actually really good because you will have more of a background of the laws for when you get to the gospels. Knowing the Law very well is a great great help. Plus being accustomed to the whole Jewish way of life has to make things much easier when it comes to understanding what Jesus really did. I think you will find everything that Jesus has done to be highly interesting when you know the background of the law. Have a great day!

He said rashablabla I dont know how you spell it lol, but I was like "what?" And he told me that it's tishas b'av. the thing you were talking about.
