"Straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up: and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague - " Mark 5:29
What can we learn from this miracle? I think that we can learn at least two things, which I mention today.
First, that what Jesus gives must be received personally. Jesus then isolated this lady who had exercised her touch of faith, amidst the thronging crowd, to make this clear. What Jesus can do, what Jesus will do, He will do for us personally. "My souls wait thou only upon God." It is a personal encounter, and an involvement between every individual and the Master.
"Somebody has touched me!" That is what Jesus said in Luke's account. A personal confrontation with Jesus - and those who would criticise this type of encounter where there is a great throng of people, overlook this one tremendous spiritual factor: that is, that the Holy Spirit can isolate any individual even in a multitude, just as He did with this lady. You will find yourself, at some time or other in a situation where as far as you are concerned , there is nobody else but you and Jesus. What Jesus gives must be received personally.
And what Jesus gives must be revealed publically. In other words what Jesus does in us and for us is not something to be kept to ourselves. It is something that others need to know about. And in such knowing the glory will be given to Jesus. Luke's account reads that she 'declared unto Him before all the people the reason she had touched Him. and that how she became aware that she had been healed immediately." The people went away not thinking about the lady and her wonderful experience, but thinking what a wonderful person Jesus was.
Acts 1:8 "And you shall be witnesses unto me....
