Conflicts over Pokemon and Video Games

Certain people in my Church recently attacked Pokemon (A game I have been playing since childhood) and said somethings such as the name meaning Demon and that you were messing with demons and evil spirits. I have done much research and have looked at other threads on this forum. If someone could please explain to me why people believe that Pokemon is satanic and then whether or not it is with evidence, or anything close to evidence then I would be glad.

Also, I fear that Pokemon is targeted more than other games. Games like Doom however literally contain satanic symbols and demons. Why is it that Pokemon is attacked over these other games.

People think almost all major franchises are satanic. I've heard the same things for Mario. Have you played mario bros 3?

Pokemon also has evolution, but I think people have relaxed on that issue now. There's really no substance to anything like that. And frankly, I think raising these issues makes Christians look like lunatics.

Evolution might be some matter, theres probably others.

IMHO we shouldnt really care too much about things like games. If playing the game makes you feel good, then its good. Does it lead you away from Christ? If not, then there is no problem.

I think, there is no real co-relation between games and real life. People playing GTA will not turn into gangsters IMO. Playing COD will not turn you into psychopath who will kill innocent people - at least I didnt turn into any of those things. With time I even lost any interest in playing such games and turned to the more lighthearted nintendo games. Have never played pokemon, though, I think I am too old to get it into it now but I like playing all kinds of other games, Fire Emblem for example.

I believe one could explain everything as satanic or evil if one was so inclined.
