...This is also why the fundamentalist is incorrect when he says witches can and should be put to death. Even if the scriptures say so, it is still immoral, because there are other ways to handle things now outside of basic execution.

Things cannot always be clear, unfortunately. And they won't be. And that's why we have a conscience to think with.

If the conscience is an Eternal Law, as described by the doctors of the Church (Doctor Angelicus, and the Doctor Communis), then not only did Adam and Eve have a conscience, but also G-D and the Angels also have a conscience. In which case, the conscience has always existed, and always will exist, just as we are made in G-d's image.

In the next life, we will have no use for the scriptures at all. It will be *only* conscience, where our conscience will reflect His conscience.
