This weekend I didn’t go to Mass for two reasons…..I’d painfully injured my foot and was hobbling around, with a really sore leg from limping and hobbling. I was going to probably go to Mass on Sunday instead of my usual Saturday but then my anxiety started to escalate And was anticipating a possible panic attack. Do I have a good enough reason for missing Mass?
BTW, my foot still hurts.

Most likely, yes. When you are sick you are not obligated. This looks like it qualifies. If you have any lingering doubts bring it up at confession. I'll betcha the priest says it was a totally excusable absence.

But if you went to three big box stores that day, then no.

No, I didn’t, lol.i did watch most of Mass online, though. I say “most” because I have so many distractions when I watch it.

Watching is so inferior to being there for me. I hated the Covid era video masses.

I did miss mass about three months ago when my wife got really sick. I was healthy but wasn't going to leave her out of my sight. We ended up with her in the hospital and emergency surgery the next morning. A priest came around to give her an anointing. And a deacon came around to bring communion. She was well sacramentalized. And she got better too. I don't consider that for an instant as not an excusable absence.

I’m happy to hear that your wife got better.

And your foot will get better too. Mine did after a few months.
I’m not even sure how i injured it…..I just noticed one day I was walking on the outer edge of my foot and it was hurting really bad.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

God bless you

Is it possible to email your priest and ask him?
I asked and he said I have a valid excuse for missing Mass but if I have any doubts at all I can go to confession. Since he said I have a valid reason for missing Mass, it’s all good and I’m not going to confession. He also told me Jesus loves me.
