You know, talking to your kids is an option here. I know it's hard and stuff, but that's kind of what you signed up for as a parent. You can't just shelter, shelter, shelter and then "Oh hey you're an adult time to go face the real world now!"

Sheltered kids rebel. Sheltered kids are not prepared for adulthood. Do them a favor and just talk to them like the intelligent human beings they are about why you don't approve of this sort of thing.

True, but remember you have to constantly pull the headphones to verify each song if they have any form of MP3 Player, Smart Phone, Dumb Phone with Media Support, Tapes, ect or they just might have a mix of "Allowed music" and "Banned Music", and going by the song names or Tags doesn't work as they can all be edited to say anything.

I totally understand that but shirts with filthy words and other content should not be worn by kids. I agree with everything that you all are saying but I am just trying to state that this band is promoting terrible content. It's not that I am trying to shelter them but if my kids see this material when they go out into the real world, then they might get exposed to this just from another kid wearing this band's shirt.

Then teach your kids how to handle it without acting like it's the end of the world and that it must be banned from view.

Example. My kid doesn't dress like a harlot because we don't buy them clothing so they can dress like a harlot.

If you don't want your kid wearing that, don't buy them that.

I see your dilemma. I'm not too sure how things go in Kentucky but in the rest of the US, we have the first amendment which protects this rock group's freedom of speech and expression. So, no. There isn't much that you can do about it except perhaps, not listen to their music and tell your children not to listen to it. Though, I personally don't see how it would harm them if they did.

The answer is easy. Buy a tour shirt and an album and insist to your children that they're the best artist ever. They will never pick it up.

If you want to prevent your children from influences you don´t like or disagree with the safest method is to lock them in in your home (without any media available, of course) until they are 18.

My first question is simple (but I haven't seen it, though I easily might have just missed): How old are these "children" yu are seeing wear these shirts?

Are talking high school? Middle school? What? Because I would say that makes a difference.
If they are high schoolers and the parents are letting them, then big deal. That is not any of your business. Middle school? That would e a bit telling on the parents part, but still no business of yours unless the parents are members of your church or something.

Next, looking into the band briefly (not actually having time to listen to them or look up lyrics right now), I see nothing about them being "satanic". I see something about how they like lyrics based on horror themes (which I can see being a bit misleading, I admit),

I mean...my dad's favorite performers were Ozzy and Pink Floyd. They are both among my favorites too. but maybe I am just weird.

Turn off the radio/iPod/TV/etc. They're your kids. You can't control what they hear when they're out of your sight, though, so teach them to make responsible, safe decisions, and hopefully they'll be fine no matter what messages they hear. Does this really need saying?

I assume you want to continue to live in a country that has freedom of speech, so that's the only answer I have for you.

If you value living in a free society, you should be willing to fight for the right of this group to say what they want to.

From doing a basic skimming of what they're all about, I can't say I share many of their views either, but they have the right to say it. Censoring them makes us all weaker.

Also something to keep in mind, this is far from the first band of this style to ever come around. People were calling Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper and KISS satanic back in the 70s, and for the most part, they're just normal guys putting on a stage show. Same goes for Marylin Manson in the 90s. The shock factor is just part of the show, it's like going to see a horror movie in the theatres. I suspect that's a big part of this groups gimmick as well.
