Compassion for life - the Christmas Tree

I know its a radical thing to say! but..guess what..trees are living..hey guess what! living things dont want to die. and hey guess what! God created and loves his trees. I know, radical right! Usually you think God only loves you creates millions of life forms just for us to torture them.

things die, will die and should die - to reunite with God. there are times to kill and times when killing is necessary and perfectly natural. but to chop a living thing into two pieces, let it die slowly of thirst and hunger - then make a MEANINGLESS DECORATION out of it - thats wrong

and im ashamed the average christian lacks compassions for Gods creations. have more compassion for a tree, it does not deserve to die to be someones decoration or tossed in the trash like it never had a life at all.

and now please, before you start making stupid comments. no, walking on grass does not harm it - thank you. yes I eat meant. yes I use paper and wood - it is functional and has been important materials in mankinds history.

but to kill for a decoration? come on...thats low

Would it be ok to use the tree for firewood afterwords?
Jesus was carpenter so at least we know its ok to make useful things with wood, right?

Don't think of it as murder, think more along the lines of "culling" or thinning. This is what is done to larger herds of animals when they become a nuicance or endanger themselves.
On tree farms, trees are grown for a specific purpose, just like cattle.
P.S. We use an artificial tree here.

The only reason I see to purchase an artificial tree is for people with allergies. More trees (3:1) are planted to replace the tree that is cut down; otherwise, the tree farm would be out of trees and out of business.

We use artificial for the no mess condition, it's consistantly symetrical and the right height.
I think the amount of trees replanted at a tree farm is dependant on demand, otherwise profits are ate up. The trees replanted after logging are in the neiborhood of 3:1.

The brute creation was give for man's dominion. And one of the ends we may use it in very profitable ways is for adornment. One of them is the Christmas tree, a tradition of our culture.
