[Dusky Mouse]

This is easy and fun.

Each person adds one sentence to further the story that begins in post one.

To begin:


Once long ago there was a man who lived in a small hut...

He was a ferryman, named Simon, and one day a man came to him.

 

[Dusky Mouse]

Seeking to make passage to a distant shore.

The river was at flood stage that day with dangerous currents.

 

[brinny]

and they swelled angrily as if they were out to drag ev'rything under with them.

 

[Dusky Mouse]

But the man that approached Simon had to make the journey despite the threat of angry waters.

But the ferryman replied, "Sir, let us wait until morning."

 

[brinny]

The river has been known to swallow whole river boats and no one was ever seen or heard from again.

 

[prov1810]

And the man said, "We can cross and we won't need a boat."

 

[brinny]

Simon looked at him incredulously and wondered....

 

[prov1810]

And the man took Simon by the hand...

 

[brinny]

And He said "trust me".

 

[Dusky Mouse]

But Simon knew these waters and the dangers involved and elected not to trust this stranger with strange ideas about water crossing.

The man turned, and walked to the water's edge.

He stepped onto the water and immediately got swept away.

As the raging river current carried him downstream..

But Simon grabbed hold of a rock that jutted out in the river and held on.
