Common Ground

It's no secret that there are deep theological (and some times personal ) issues that divide us. Perhaps we might concentrate on Common Ground between us and the enemy that seeks to devour us.

I don't know Oblio. I have always had excellent interactions between you, Philip and Maximus and I'd "go to war" with any of you at any time. However, as great as my interactions with you three guys have been, my interactions with the rest of your brethren have been the exact opposite. There was never any respect between Orthodoxy and Catholicism in their posts over at IDD, and the disdain for Catholicism is evident in their posts in every forum they post in when the topic is presented.

That makes it difficult to focus on anything we have in common, when you know that the people you are trying to fellowship with treat you like step-children in the family of God.

I'm sorry, but I'll probably always refrain from posting in TAW for that very reason.

It is a shame, because I really do like all of you here even the two EO members that do not see it the same way as you.

What upsets me the most and it may not be even done on purpose is the 'our Church is holier than yours' routine I often see from certain EO members, as if in Catholicism we do not have monks and contemplatives just as plentiful as the Orthodox Church does. It misrepresents us and I do not like the 'one up' feel any correction brings to a thread.

I am sorry all this nastiness is happening and I ca not help but think IDD is part to blame. Thank the Lord it's gone.
