Someone posted the following on another forum. Can someone confirm or refute these claims?
To my knowledge Catholics never denied abuses. But that, I guess, has nothing to do with doctrine.

Secondly, the POPE excommunicated Luther, not the other way around. The Roman Church was killing Protestants, not the other way around (until later). If you read the Scots Worthies or Foxe's Book of Martyrs, you will see that simple men like us, who were sharing ideas contrary to the Magisterium were being KILLED. The Protestant Reformation was not about a bunch of spoiled brat kids who took their ball and went home. It was about PARENTAL ABUSE (on the part of the Mother Church). These men, elders all, broke off from the Church to protect the children (the saints) from the evil Roman hierarchy.
