CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The whole Olympics should be boycotted, or at least pirated cos I do not want to give my money to them cos of this woke Last Supper parody. All the team who designed that opening ceremony should be fired, or placed in jobs that do not involve television.

You should say he was fired for refusing to go along with the delusion. It is obvious that the song describes communism but we are supposed to pretend that it doesn't. And the delusion in sports goes even further. We have panels of commentators lamenting that WNBA players aren't paid as much as NBA players and they have to pretend they don't know why. That groups of television professionals have to pretend that they don't understand ratings is beyond absurd. Then we have men competing in women's sports but we are supposed to pretend they are women. And anyone who refuses to pretend they are women are sacked. We are forced to live lies.

For them to do that would be to elevate that song, as a religious mantra. It's a secular song and doesn't need defended by anyone. What next? Persecute someone who says they hate Beetles music? Urban legend says "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" had a questionable meaning.....so do you fire someone from a job who thinks it might?
I'd hope if Lennon were still here today he'd tell them to knock it off and hire that guy back right now!

True, a lot of art was raunchy back then, and it is understandable from an old perspective, but for the modern world, we not not need to bring in the raunchiness. But, this conversation is about Lennon, not ancient art.
