Coming on the Clouds

Have you had a picture in your head of the future coming of Christ?
Was it something like him slowly decending from the sky on a small cloud?

I recently read in Luke
The Son of Man, in His time, will be like a flash of lightning that lights up the whole sky.

Seems more like an awesome time that flashes in a short moment doesn't it. Lightning coming on the clouds.

2000 years ago, the 'coming on the clouds' would have been interpreted at God's judgement, something spiritual, not physical.

Remember, when the Jews were looking for there King, they missed him because they were focusing on the physical king they wanted.

Yes that's true. I was just aluding to the fact that it will be in the blink of an eye rather than something you could actually see and watch happen.
