  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Question for the ladies, what colognes do you think smell nice, if any?

Question for guys, what colognes have you worn that you received compliments for?

I'm asking because I used to wear some really good cologne, but after my family stopped attending any local churches, I didn't see cologne as a justified expense when I never went anywhere and was basically a shut-in. Took me a while after I started working to realize I needed something good, even if for just special occasions.

My old brands that I would get compliments on either discontinued the scent, or they changed them. So I'm at square one, looking for advice on what people like.

And don't worry, I know the importance of being subtle, I've never been one to take a bath in it, so I can smelled for thirty feet away xD

I don't have much to say on the type of cologne I personally thing smell nice as I've never asked the guys in my life what brands they use. But I can say that it is good you don't douse yourself in it. Too much cologne is awful :p

My fiance wears Acqua Di Gio by Armani and he even will spray it on a dress shirt and leave it with need when he's away. I love the smell!

But colognes and perfumes all smell different on different people. You have to find one that goes with your body chemistry.

I'm extremely sensitive to any artificial fragrance, so I personally don't use it and find it difficult to be quite near someone who does wear it without it bothering me (hurting my sinus, headache, ect).

However, not that it isn't a turn on to know a guy takes care of himself and put effort into smelling good for the occasion. If I had to pick scent that would quickly grab my attention it's anything earthy/woodsy.

But, wear something 'sweet' and you're dead to me. Lol.

Like Peachie said..... it changes by body chemistry what works for one may not work for another.

Also agree with the light blue

Cool Water is old, cheap and doesnt fail to get complements as long as you get the real thing.
41it%2BEzCBNL._AC_UL130_.jpg

Drakkar NOIR - its a more "fancy" type smell that goes well with a suit... etc.

My every day stuff: Grey Flannel
41Vh9k1jXOL.jpg

It goes on a bit odd but after it has been on me for a little bit it evens out and smells good.

Id say go on amazon and buy a sampler, truth is you wont know what works for you until you try it.

I didn't like grey flannel until I used a sampler and actually wore it, before then I opened it and thought it smelled close to baby oil.

After a sampler Id suggest avoiding places like Amazon as there are TONS of counter fitters out there, everything from the expensive stuff to the old cheap stuff like cool water. Even legit sellers are peddling knockoff water ( You can get the real thing but its a crap shoot.) this is about the ONLY thing I ever suggest buying at a department store...... or simply accept that you run a big risk of getting knockoff stuff (not the end of the world, but the scent wont last long at all.

Not to get too far from the topic, but I have the same situation with allergies and this year it was so bad I constantly looked like I was crying, so my boss made me get an allergy shot. Not only did it fix the dust and pollen allergy I have but I'm not sensitive to perfumes or anything right now! (Except cat saliva.. Haha) highly recommend. Its so nice to not take pills everyday and to feel better!

Hmmm.. never really worn cologne myself. Since I lack a sense of smell, and don't like the idea of spraying something on me that apparently makes me smell better or something. Think humans evolved to tolerate like people's natural scent.. idk.. seems artificial.

Like how much does it really matter? Will women be more into you just because you smell better? Does it actually increase the success of picking women up? Lol.

I don't use cologne, but I use ittar. If you have a Middle Eastern shop nearby, you should see if they have it (amber, oud or musk). Depending on which one you get, the smell can be wonderful and being highly concentrated, you only need a drop or so. I tried it after my friend told me about it and recommended it. I've had compliments from ladies. It's very popular among the Middle East, Pakistan & India, but seems barely known in Western countries. Which means it can give you an edge others don't have. They're natural orientated with essential oils, herbs, spices etc.,

Ittar - Wikipedia

It comes in decorated bottles like these

same. I'm pretty sensitive to overly chemical things, so I gotta be careful.

Speaking of woodsy, I used to have this citrus and cedar scented soap. I don't know if girls liked it, but I sure did. Lol

I bought some Drakkar Noir two weeks ago, that's what I've been wearing xD
I like it, its a little odd at first, kinda old man-ish, but it's not harsh chemical or alcohol smell like the majority of what people wear nowadays. And it kinda mellows out, gets deeper, I think it works well for my body chemistry.
I got it cause it wasn't a harsh alcoholic or chemical smell, and because it wasn't a knockoff brand, it was the real deal.

@PeachieKeen I went to the store and gave Acqua Di Gio a try. It's very similar to what I used to wear, so I bought some. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, thats why I only wear Noir when I put on a suit or other such formal reasons. Its not a bad scent for being around since the early 80s.

I know you found your go to, but I used to LOVE Stetson sierra but it was a long time ago (late 90s) what I remember it was a bit woodsy..... about the ONLY thing stetson that was worth anything if memory serves me.Id suggest avoiding all things stetson otherwise.

Yeah mojo I wear Aqua Di Gio aswell, bought it a couple of months ago. I like it, light smell. So it was a good choice imo.

I also have this though
best-cologne-for-men-La-Nuit-De-L’homme.jpg

Though this has a bit of a stronger smell, not as light. I've had this since I was a teen. I like it's smell though... french name and sort of smells french haha.

Can the right cologne turn a 2 into a 9? Lol..
No. But it's important. Smelling good is very important, and sometimes when working and stuff, soap only gets you so far.

Yeah, it's definitely on the fancy side, but it's still very pleasant.

I wouldn't say I've found my go to, I just found something I like, I'm gonna try and see about the other suggestions that have been made. Especially the inexpensive ones. Lol

The only Stetson I go for is hats. I love my Stetson hat.

The last bottle of cologne i owned was Tommy Hilfiger. Now I just roll with the supernatural scent of the life giving aroma of eternal life. In Jesus name!
I used to have a huge bottle of Tommy. It was given to me by my sister's boyfriend cause he didn't like it. I used it, but not as much as the other kind I wore. That bottle lasted me probably eleven years. Lol
