  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know I'm just like every other student out there but I am struggling to pay these tuitions along with my other bills BADLY. I was hoping some of the knowledgable posters on here can post any information on Scholarships that they have. My counselors at school are pretty useless......

In terms of the scholarships, I'd say limit them to the ones geared toward the "everyman" student. I am no genius, heheheh.

Hopefully I am not the only one who can benefit from this thread. I know that I am not the only one dreading these building student loans and every dollar I can save counts.

Well you can go to www.fastweb.com if you haven't already to look up scholarhips you may qualify for. If your now just entering a school you might want to check out their financial aid page as sometimes they have scholarships available.

Also you could apply for financial aid to receive a pell grant which you do not have to pay back. (the site is http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/) The maxium possible you can recevie in grant money is $4000, and that's just $2000 per semester. You may also qualify for a subsidized loan if you received a pell grant. That means the government will pay the interest of the loan lender of your choice while your attending school so there is no bill to pay until graduation.

hope that helps..

Fastweb and FAFSA are probably your best bets. Talk to your school, they have financial aid and other programs as well. Or they should. Loans, scholarships, and aid...that's how I'm paying for school. Loans, not looking too forward to those, but gotta pay the bills for school!

Thanks for the responses. Outside perspectives are really helping me, because out of everyone in my family I am the only one who went/is going to college. They are of no help. I'm thinking if I can get a few of these 1000 dollar amount scholarships, they can really but a dent in the debt that I'll end up having.

I just wanted to pop back in here, I have been really busy with my pursuits and making some good progress. While only a few scholarships panned out so far, I am still optimistic. So many of them were such a HASSLE to fill out, and then didn't come through! I've had the most success with the more open scholarships like progressingreward dot com ...Its like if you aren't a minority you automatically have half the chance these days.

Well, just wanted to let ya know these responses were helpful.

have you checked with departmental scholarships and university continuing student scholarship. You usually have to have a 3.0, but I applied for them and got $6,000 from them this academic year.
WOW! Thats a lot of money. Unfortunately I don't have those grades...
