Col 3:2 Keep your mind set on things from above

Im doing a sermon on this one verse next week. Col 3:2
What do yall think this verse means? Think please...lol
"have your mind on the things [that are] above, not on the things [that are] on the earth;" Col3:2
Have your mind set on things from above.

Hi Joe,

Well, since being saved, I have spent a huge percentage of my time thinking about God, Jesus, sin, etc., whereas before I would have been thinking about the next shopping trip, jewelry, impressing people, etc. Also I have cleaned my mouth up and have begun questioning whether tv shows and movies I watch honor God. I have not done much evangelism yet as I have spent most of my time "catching up" on 53 years of sloth.

I think that it's thinking about heavenly things and God over the fleshly things of this earth.

Eph. tells us that we are in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We have been reconcile back to God through Jesus Christ and have all receive the ministry of reconcilitation.(rom. 5-10-12) This was the mind of Christ as He walked among us. And this should be our mind. (1 Cor.2-16) It is a heavenly state of being.

It says to keep your mind on things above.

Then it says that the mind is emnity against God.

The only way to keep your mind from straying against God, is to think about those things above, Keeping Jesus always before you in your mind. Bringing your mind into subjection to your Spirit. Keeping your mind on things above, so our minds will be renewed daily along with his word.

Just an offering of advice... Ask God to reveal to you what it means. If you're preaching a sermon, it'd be best to ask God for revelation on the scipture rather than asking man... You're spreading the word of God, so who best to ask other than the Source Himself ?

I didnt ask this to get a Revelation from man. , just wanted some various opinions and thoughts on the matter.
