Years ago here in town there was a street named Philip Street . . .
Most people living here couldnt tell you where Philip Street was, actually most people didnt even realize the little dirt road existed . . .
But if you pulled out the town map, sure enough right there between Johnson Lane and Latham Circle there was this road named Philip Street.
I recall pumping gas at the gas station up the road from there when I was around sixteen or so.
Every once in awhile someone would stop in there and ask for directions to Philip Street and dont you know it, sure enough they would ride right past it and not even notice it was there.
You see, Philip Street was actually planned to be put through there but the road was never completed.
It was simply this narrow dirt road that never was finished.
Sure it was on the town map that the engineers drew up and the people in the neighborhood all knew where it was, but that narrow little dirt road didnt have a street sign and nobody except for those in the neighborhood, realized that it existed unless they saw it on the map.
Well, I got to thinking about that little dirt road named Philip Street this morning as I sat there sipping my coffee.
I thought about how people used to drive right passed that little narrow road, not even realizing that it existed.
Then I got to thinking about what we read in Matthew 7:13-14.
Matthew 7:13,14
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
We are warned that the way to destruction is wide but narrow is the way unto life.
When we look around us today, we see many who are following that wide path leading to destruction . . .
But we know Gods Word has the map leading us to that narrow path . . .
Perhaps by sharing the map with others we can lead them from the wide path to the narrow path that leads to eternal life.
Just a thought over coffee.
