  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

February 10, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – On January 23, 2020, Bloomsbury Academic published a call to action for all those who care about “climate change.” The Ahuman Manifesto: Activism for the End of the Anthropocene by Patricia MacCormack, a professor of continental philosophy at Angelia Ruskin University, cuts to the chase and advocates for the ultimate solution to global warming: The end of the human race. For MacCormack, “Extinction Rebellion” has a whole different meaning.

MacCormack, who admits to being an “occultist magician,” is not the sort of weak-kneed climate activist who believes that we should save the planet for our children.

In fact, she doesn’t think there should be any children.

I think we aught to give the Isaiah 35
theory on turning deserts green a good and sincere try first??????

Concept for a Christian documentary starring Ms. Greta Thunberg....

"So how is our problem of continental drying causing global warming? It all has to do with vegetation and sunlight. When sun light hits a plant, it causes a process which we call photosynthesis where the energy from the sun light creates oxygen for us to breathe, water for us to drink, and is stored as sugar for plants and animals to use. When the same sun light hits the soil, all of its energy turns into heat and is radiated back into the atmosphere.. ."

"Therefore, the less vegetation you have on the planet, the more sunlight is being turned into heat and the warmer the planet becomes...."

"Just take a look at any satellite picture of the earth showing heat and you will see that our deserts are the warmest spots on the planet by far. More heat is being generated by just one of the top four or five deserts than by all of our cities combined.... "

"The truth is that you can do more to decrease global warming by just reducing the average temperature for the Sahara Desert by one or two degrees than if we humans completely quit using fossil fuels and returned to the cave…."

"So, how would you start working to resolve this problem? Easy, cool the deserts and get some vegetation growing on them as soon as possible. But the method is much more complex than that. You have to use the prevailing trade winds in relation to the deserts to get the best results as quickly as possible and it will be extremely expensive…."

"Then we build desalination plants along the coast near these water sheds and pipe water to the tops or ridges of the water sheds…"

"We need to start working on this as soon as possible because, if the planet reaches a point to where it is warming faster than our technology can possibly stop or reverse this warming trend, then our planet is lost and all life will cease to exist on this planet within a relatively short period of time. We will need to start with the largest and hottest deserts because cooling them will have the greatest benefit in the least time (Global Warming II by biologist Carl Cantrell)."

So, what if human extinction doesn't solve that problem? Are we going to get an apology? At least, an "oopsey...??"

What's the difference between humans becoming extinct due to "climate change" and humans becoming extinct to "save the planet"? Either way, we're extinct.

Of course, we could leave earth for the whales and butterflies to enjoy...o_O

As a Christian, I feel the earth was made for human existence. A mindless tree can't enjoy a sunset or a beautiful song.

I was thinking about the great ice age--and how weather can change regardless of human input.
Climate can indeed change regardless of human input. But there is widespread consensus that we humans have created a climate problem. Please tell me you are not advancing this ridiculous argument:

1. The climate is changing now.
2. Climate can change for reasons unrelated to human activity.
3. Therefore, the climate change we have today is unrelated to human activity.

It's possible that the climate is just changing on it's own. The south pole's ice is increasing, not decreasing. How does one explain that.

yes, but that does not mean we should be arrogant and abuse the earth and animals as we have. a tree is a living being as well, and i do not care much whether it "can enjoy the sunset" or not. by that metric, there are plenty of people who we should get rid of because they lack the emotional intelligence to enjoy a sunset or a work of art or any other work of beauty, be it God's or man's (unless it's the body of a beautiful man or woman, but at that point we're not talking about emotional intelligence anymore). I am obviously against self-destructive behaviour as what the idiot you mentioned in the opening post suggests, but there are many ways we could make forward.

Tesla's work of producing free energy was swiftly confiscated after his death. An Austrian scientist who discovered how to make engines run on water committed suicide with six bullets on the back of his head, if you catch my drift. Not being gluttonous beasts who consume more meat than we need (or deserve) and abuse animals for it is another way we could make forward. Either way, the sources of our evil are two: the satanic elites who rule us and our own sense of entitlement and arrogance.

I'm not saying carelessly junk up the earth. I think we should respect the earth, but at the same time have respect for human life. (Unlike the woman in the OP.)

Indeed!!!!

Isaiah 30
verse 26

Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

When the glaciers melted off of North America the land actually rose up due to the reduced weight. In areas where they are looking for signs of habitation in North America around 15,000 years ago, the shoreline kept pace, like a cork with the rising sea as it climbed about 30 feet. This was before factories. The ice was over a mile thick.

If that were the case why did it take 4.5billion years for us to get here?

It's possible that the climate is just changing on it's own. The south pole's ice is increasing, not decreasing. How does one explain that.
Try to check on it first, in an impartial way.

First step is just ordinary checking, even though a gain due to increased precipitation would be plausible, measurement is always trumping theory.

"In recent decades, the Greenland Ice Sheet has been a major contributor to global sea-level rise1,2, and it is expected to be so in the future3. Although increases in glacier flow4–6 and surface melting7–9 have been driven by oceanic10–12 and atmospheric13,14 warming, the degree and trajectory of today’s imbalance remain uncertain. Here we compare and combine 26 individual satellite measurements of changes in the ice sheet’s volume, flow and gravitational potential to produce a reconciled estimate of its mass balance.
Although the ice sheet was close to a state of balance in the 1990s, annual losses have risen since then, peaking at 335 ± 62 billion tonnes per year in 2011. In all, Greenland lost 3,800 ± 339 billion tonnes of ice between 1992 and 2018, causing the mean sea level to rise by 10.6 ± 0.9 millimetres.

Mass balance of the Greenland Ice Sheet from 1992 to 2018

Ok, the hypothesis is incorrect, by observation. Instead of increasing, it's decreasing.

Why is Antarctica's sea ice growing while the Arctic melts? Scientists now know why.

Climate is very complex, and you can't rely on only one or only 5 hypotheses, of course. Nor on just a zig or a zag in ice or temperature for a year or three.

We need long term pictures, 20, 50, 100 years.

Here's a good site to keep up to date, and it's like drinking from a fire hydrant. But you get more current observations, and every day or two.

Guess you could get different answers depending where you go. But, I've found consistent results for the increase of ice for the south pole.
