Clicker Training.

I went to a 4-h seminar about clicker training dogs. I was skeptical about clicker training and thought it was a yuppy fad. Was I mistaken!
I think any dog, cat, horse, cow, goat, rat, critter lover should check it out!!!

Whitehorse, what you do is get a clicker, and you get the animal used to hearing a click and getting a non chewy treat. They associate the click with a behavior, for instance my dachshund lifts his paw in an adorable manner, when he does that, I click and give him a treat, and he repeats the behavior.

Thanks for the link! I'll check it out. I want to teach my German Shepherd Dog to pray before she eats. Sounds like you have a cute doggie!

Around here she's known as Radar, but in real life she responds to, "What are you doing???" Or, "Stay in the yard!" Or, "No chewing that!" Or, "Stop stealing my socks!" She's a cutie patootie, but I think she would be cuter if she did that trick where the dog puts its paws on a chair and buries her face in them to look like she's praying.

Stormi, I was a skeptic. Thought it was a yuppie fad. I was actually surprised.
My dog Jo-Jo is a "sausage dog" he's a Dachshund and I am trying to teach him to shake and possibly "talk".
Odie Coyote is a mix. He's a fourty pound???poodle, terrier, spaniel.
That guy all he has to do is cuddle up to me and hang out. He's neat.
