  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just changed my almost 4 week old's diaper, and it was clear yellow (classic breastfed mustard color, but translucent). Is this normal? We've been using up some disposible diapers that are about to be too small so they absorbed most of the stuff. Well, I put her in a cloth diaper and it doesn't absorb as well and there it was. She's been more drooly lately and eating like crazy.

Normal? Call the doctor?

I always say do what feels right. If you feel like you should call the doctor, then do it. It could just be a bit of a loose stool, so maybe just monitor how frequently she is going and the consistency of it for the next 24 hours or so. If she's eating more, she may be having a growth spurt.

Have you eaten anything that would cause stomach upset for her? Anything acidic or spicy or chocolatey?

Give the doctor a call to be on the safe side, but she's probably okay...

When our 2nd oldest was around 6wks., DW had just taken off his diaper and was bringing him to the kitchen sink to rinse him off. On the way there, he shot bright red liquid out of his backside. DW freaked. She thought he was bleeding and called 911. The EMTs came over right away and, after checking him thoroughly, started to laugh. It turned out to be Kool-Aid. Because of his age, it had passed through undigested.

I remember when my DS6 was a newborn - my dad came to visit me and brought me my favorite cheat food - glazed chocolate cake donut from Dunkin' Donuts. I chowed down on that bad boy, but later that night my poor DS sure did share his opinion about chocolate.

How did you kids do(o?) with salmon? We have some, but I'm worried it might be too oily. She seems to like chicken breast with dill on salad...oh bland bland bland!

It's a good thing I'm not a huge fan of donuts...ice cream on the other hand...hmmmm oh well, it's got calcium!

There wasn't much my boys didn't tolerate well when I was breastfeeding. I stayed away from the "obvious" culprits like onions, super spicy food, and chocolate (after the donut incident). Everything else was no problem - they were both really good eaters, too - still are!
