cleaning shoes

hi,

this might seem weird, but i was wondeirng what's everybody's way of cleaning their shoes.

especially the base underneath the soles.

I got my new shoe dirty in 3 horus....

do you wash it like regular clothes, use special cleaner..

i dont know what sort of shoes you have can you elaborate as to what the base of the shoes are made of please ?

if theyre fabric shoes with plastic bases (summer beach wear shoes ?) then they should be ok in the washing machine as thats what ive done in the past

putting runing shoes through the wash can degrade some of the materials and glues used... so i don't do it.

dirty shoes are a mark of honour

Agreed ed_m ... having clean running shoes is like driving around in a spotless SUV vehicle. But, if your one of those "I don't wanna get any crud on my H2 Hummer" kinda person... you should talk to the staff at any footware store (Footlocker etc.). There are a variety of shoe cleaning products/shampoos and the ones I've seen include directions on do's and don't. If you just want to clean your soles I would just use a rather concentrated water jet stream (garden hose) to get into those tight spots between the treads. I really wouldn't worry about it though Lion because they'll just look like a smokin'blur to everyone else as you hammer past them on your local running trails.

I have running shoes, and they're DIRTY... I don't really bother about cleaning them due to the fact they are just going to get dirty again. But, my school shoes I like to try and keep clean. They're fairly easy to keep clean, wash cloth and some shoe cleaner (got the cleaner from finish line) and they're good to go.

Try OxiClean (the original powdered form). Mix some into a bowl of water and scrub your shoe with a toothbrush. You'll have shiny shoes in no time.

it depends on the kind of shoes- if you have canvas shoes with rubber soles (like vans, converse, etc), just put em in the washer. take the shoelaces out first though. thats all i can contribute.... those are the only shoes i really wear!
