  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am a classic rock fan. My top 3 bands in order Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Rush. I also like Van Halen, AC/DC (some), Judas Priest, Boston, and countless other 70's -80's rock bands. HATE 80's hair bands! Everything past 1984. What do you like.

I like those groups. VH is my fave. And...I like 80s hair bands. ^_^
I do not like Ratt, Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, Skid Row. I quit listening to rock in 1984 when I first got saved. It was not until the early 2000's that I started listening again.

I’m not a Ratt fan. I like the later Crüe. Big GnR fan. Skid Row? Eh

My guilty pleasure, though, is Poison.

I'm not a fan of most hair bands. I did see D.L.R. era van Halen three times.
I saw the Great White Snake tour in 88. I saw aerosmith several times.
I currently work for a music city fm radio station that plays classic hits from the Beatles era into the 80s.

I like all types of rock. But blues rock is a particular favorite. This is from the late 60s. A great cover of the classic old blues song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins. With some killer guitar work by John Fogerty.

Going back further, I also like 50s doo wop. A fun song from a really obscure group. I don't why this record didn't make the top 40. Terrific vocals with a great Latin vibe and an irresistible beat. It's just too cool.

Gotta mention another favorite of mine, Roy Hamilton. He had several top 20 hits in the early 60s. The man had an awesome voice. Elvis idolized him. Sadly, he died in his 40s. This was a top 12 record. It's great. You can hear how powerful a singer he was. And you can hear the influence of gospel music in rock and roll.

Zeppelin and Rush are such fun bands to listen to (Zep was my favorite for so many years), and hardly any band got close to Page and Plant and Bonham at their best, to have 3 up at that level simultaneously. :) I'm much older now, but once in a while hear Zeppelin. It's hard to beat a song like When the Levee Breaks for just sheer musicmanship if you like blues and rock styles and interesting lyric together. (captures that pathos of the south; just read Plant did the harmonica solo)
