  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why, of all things, did God choose the mutilation of a sex organ to signify a Covenant?? This mystifies me.
Circumcision as a practice has been debated by the medical community for a while as to whether or not it is necessary. As we know the scientific community is mostly at odds with the Christian community, therefore I don't put a lot of stock in their findings.

Biblically circumcision is a symbol of cleansing concerning pro-creation. It deals with the clean propagation of the seed of the woman. Medically it has been determined that a non-circumcised man is more proned to infections and diseases than a circumcised man.

In the OT when the head of the house was circumcised all the men in that household, whether Jewish or not, were circumcised. All those under the headship of the circumcised head of the household were considered clean and holy(sanctified) before the Lord. (1Cor 7:14)

In the New Testament, baptism replaced circumcision, just as Passover, which required the killing and eating of a lamb, was replaced in the New Testament with the non-bloody Lord's Supper.

Circumcision required the shedding of blood and all OT blood rites were shadows pointing to the crucifixion of Christ and were done away with after the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. If you would do a study and compare baptism and circumcision you would see the amazing likeness of the two.

Hope that helps
