• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have a friend who is taking Cipromil.
I know she's depressed but I also know that there is something else. She's angry and volatile at times, self destructive and easily offended in general. Her pdoc said that she wasn't ready to find out what else she was being treated for.

I saw that Cipromil is sometimes used to treat OCD. I was wondering if there was anything else it could be used for?

Any info is appreciated.

Often meds are used for off label reason. For example the anti seizure med I am on says nothing about bp, but most anti seizure meds are effective for bp as a mood stabilizer. Cipromil is an antidepressant. It can be used in depression, but if she were to have bp, it is generally not recommend for someone with bp to be on an antidepressant alone as it can trigger manias. It requires a mood stabilizers usually for bp
And yes, many antidepressants are used to treat ocd.

My greatest concern would be having a doctor tell me that I was'nt ready to know what I was being treated for.

In fact, that would be an instant cue for me to go visit another doctor.

This is from a website....
