I have not been a treasurer, but I have seen a thing or two.
It is possible for a church to make someone a treasurer, if the person has a lot of money, so the person will put a lot of that money into the church treasury. And it might help to have a well-to-do person who is less able to be tempted to embezzle, plus he or she already has experience in keeping records, among other things.
In the church where I am helping, there is a treasurer, but the pastor is quite experienced in overseeing the bookkeeping which is done by means of a program which was developed by some company, and they pay the company for the use of the app or program or whatever it is, including keeping things "in the Cloud", if I remember correctly. And he does get help of professional bookkeeping, in a small church.
However, one company's thing got messed up and the church lost all its records that were being handled by the company's service! So, how much do you know about managing bookkeepers and leased apps??
But in this church it seems like everyone trusts each other. It is a small church, and things simply do work out. There can even be poetry, right in the midst of problems. God can have things work poetically. In our case, it was something like this > after all the mishap stuff, the final tally of the year's finances was something like some number that was a match with the date on which we were talking about this, maybe like $7.07 on July 7th.
So, I would say - - - who, really, is doing the financial managing? And what is your relationship, already, with the pastor and others in leadership?
In another church, the guy was a recovering addict so credible that he was made the treasurer. But then certain deacons accused him of taking money. He proved them wrong, then resigned.
It can happen, in a variety of ways.
My opinion is evaluate your rapport with your church. And find out as well as you can how much will be involved > for time, including for relating with others, and your abilities needed. Of course, God can bring you into something which will need more than your present qualifications, and then He is able to take care of you.
Most of all . . . Jesus takes care of us and shares with us while we do His work > He chose His twelve >
"that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach" (in Mark 3:14).
So, from this I consider how Jesus first wants us to be with Him so He can share with us and so we can get to know Him so we are representing Him well while we serve. He keeps us, also, so we don't burn out and become post-traumatic >
"'Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'" (Matthew 11:29)
And this is how we approach ones we serve with, and people whom we serve > first is being with one another so we can minister our good example to each other and learn how to love with one another. And we do all we can to make sure no one is abusing oneself with workaholic stuff, but we make sure we always are staying with Jesus in His "rest for your souls", and we always support others to labor only as Jesus guides us in His yoke with His rest.
If you do this, this will open up relating yet to be discovered. Be blessed

to make sure with God.
